Within a 10 minute drive from the beaches at Rock, Polzeath & Daymer Bay and only 6 miles from the fishing village of Port Isaac, the set for Doc Martin, this beautifully converted annex to the owner's house provides a wonderful base for exploring this part of the North Cornish Coast. Butterchurn is set on the owner's 400 acre working dairy farm and has wonderful views over the rolling countryside to Wadebridge in the distance. The owners are delighted to show visitors their cattle and calves on request and there are plenty of public footpaths to explore the countryside directly from the property.

Approached from the gated and gravelled parking area two slate steps and a slate path lead to the front door with a step opening into the tiled hall with under floor heating, and an adjacent fully tiled shower room with W.C and hand basin. To complete the ground floor accommodation is a light open plan living space with oak laminate flooring, under floor heating and French doors with low threshold opening to the south facing garden and countryside views beyond. To one corner of the room is a neatly fitted kitchen with an antique pine table and chairs in front of the picture window and comfortable lounge seating set to the other side.

From the hall a carpeted staircase with balustrading leads to the first floor landing with attractive pine door opening into the spacious and light double bedroom with a standard double and separate single bed with a small en-suite shower room with shower unit, W.C and basin. There is an electric wall mounted heater in the bedroom.

The south facing garden is enclosed by a post and rail fence on two sides and a solid fence separating it from the owner's garden. A small patio leads onto a generous sized lawn with a stone path to the gravelled parking area. The garden overlooks the owner's farmland where livestock can be seen and views to Wadebridge in the distance.

The nearest pub offering food is at St Minver, 1mile and The Maltsters Arms in Chapel Amble, 1.5 miles. Rock 3 miles offering a wider selection of shops including Nathan Outlaw's restaurant, excellent sailing and water skiing, golf at St Enodoc and a season passenger ferry that operates to Padstow. Daymer Bay and Polzeath famed for its surfing are only a 10 minute drive both with access to the South West Coast path with wonderful scenic walks. The market town of Wadebridge is 4 miles offering a good selection of shops, sports centre and the gateway to the camel trail linking the town by cycle to Padstow. The houses of Lanhydrock, Prideaux Place and Pencarrow are all within a 30 minute drive from Butterchurn.

Sleeps
Close
When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.
Customer Rating
Close
Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets
Close
There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

Definitions

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks
Close
There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price

Reservations
Close
Weeks marked as 'Reserve' (highlighted in blue) can only be 'Reserved' (ie they cannot be booked) at this point in time because availability and prices have not yet been agreed with the owner. You can reserve these weeks in your name on a first come first served basis until availability and pricing has been agreed.

It is important to note that a 'Reserved' period can only be booked if the owner wishes to make the 'Reserved' period available for booking. Upon completion of your reservation you will receive confirmation by email or post containing details of the reservation.
