Carbis Bay Beach
(2 miles)

Carbis Bay is a northeast facing beach that rarely has any surf, making it an ideal spot for families and toddlers to paddle and swim in the calmer waters. At around a mile long, the golden sands of Carbis Bay are surrounded by sub-tropical plants and turquoise waters which might just have you thinking you’re somewhere much further south! Dogs are banned on the beach between Easter and 30 September.

We absolutely loved the location of Halfpenny Cottage; close to the gorgeous Porthkidney beach but, also so easy to walk into St Ives or Hayle. A great base was all that you could want for a week away.

October 2022

Perfect cottage. Sunny every day. Welcome pack and flowers was lovely. We all walked 36 miles in the week mostly from Lelant on the beaches to Gwithian, Godrevy (do Godrevy), Hayle and Carbis Bay - all at low tide. Lula cafe in Hayle docks is Gold! Try the dirty fries - wonderful and hot! If you take a trip to see the seals at Gweek be sure to go into Constantine Woods nearby. The dog loved the train ride from St Erth to St Ives and back! Thanks

We had a lovely stay at Halfpenny Cottage, it has a very homely feel to it with everything you need to make your holiday comfortable and relaxed. We enjoyed our walk along the beach to Carbis Bay and St Ives and it was wonderful to relax by the beach with a drink before catching the train back. We will definitely be back very soon and highly recommend the cottage. Thank you for making us feel so welcome, especially the fresh scones and clotted cream, lovely personal touch.
