Holidays in St Mawes are unforgettable – with three exceptional beaches, gorgeous flower-covered historic pubs and rugged clifftop walks. This harbourside town will capture your heart and leave you wanting to return, long after you’re home.

Located on the Roseland Peninsula, St Mawes is just a 20-minute ferry ride from the hustle and bustle of busy Falmouth. The town boasts a high flagstone street filled with artisan shops which happily sit among familiar high-street favourites. The whole town overlooks the Falmouth Estuary with wonderful views across the cliff tops and coastline dotted with rows of thickly thatched cob cottages. Nearby St Mawes Castle is a good day out to explore its interesting heritage. There isn't a café at the castle, but be sure to bring a picnic or flask, as the views over the harbour and ocean beyond are truly lovely.

St Mawes is an ideal holiday spot with three nearby beaches that are excellent for swimming. Settle down and watch the waves crash against the shore and watch swimmers in the foamy surf. Being on the southern Cornish coast, the waves aren’t as wild as the northern side of the county.

Local providers hire kayaks or canoes to explore the River Fal. Paddle down secluded creeks, and for the experienced paddler head out to Falmouth Bay and brave the waves. Stop by the sailing club and book some beginner lessons – seasoned pros beware, the locals are always looking for crew! Those who are landlubbers at heart can feel the sea breeze from the safety of the regular ferry service to Falmouth, allowing you to marvel at the natural beauty that is the Fal Estuary.

As you’d expect, Cornish Cream teas are abundant in St Mawes! Great gastro eateries are on hand for foodie aficionados, and for simple snacks - pasties, fish and chips, cockles and winkles and delicious Cornish ice-cream seem to be on every street corner! Prefer a pint? St Mawes is home to many excellent pubs, most of which feature beers from local breweries.

Book a holiday in St Mawes for fun, relaxation, great beaches and striking views of the Cornish coastline.

Paradise! Utterly delightful. If the sun shines could be in the Med. Very steep so reasonable mobility is a must.
