Please note: The garden is partially enclosed. The supervision of pets within the grounds will be necessary. Babes in arms welcome, guests will need to bring own carrycot.

Within five miles of the Maritime Town of Falmouth this newly built cabin sits snugly in a tranquil verdant valley less than a mile from the picturesque Helford village of Durgan.

Set within the grounds of the owner's home, a gentle stream descends through the gardens to the shores of the Helford River.

The property is approached via a shared gravel driveway with parking to the front of the property on a sloped gravel surface. Seven concreted steps with handrails take you down to the Cabin with one small step up into the property.

The Cabin benefits from being superbly insulated however, if additional heat is required, the wall mounted electric panel heaters provide effective supplementary heating. Once inside, the open plan accommodation is all on one level.

The Vanguard style Cabin is pine clad throughout with attractive pine flooring and numerous double glazed windows dressed with wooden Venetian blinds provide ample natural light and ventilation.The property is comfortably furnished with easy seating and dining provision for two guests and the kitchen provides a pleasant space in which to prepare meals with an extensive on site inventory available. A feature pine double bed with ample wardrobe and drawer space provided with a separate shower room W.C with basin completing the internal layout.

Set in a sunny South facing position with grassy areas for sunbathing and gravelled terrace with garden furniture and attractive Cornish stone and brick barbecue. Owners are happy to accommodate boats and trailers within the grounds of the property by prior arrangement.

The grounds surrounding the Cabin are not fully enclosed so pets will need to be supervised when outside.

The Cabin is located just on the outskirts of the pretty village of Mawnan Smith where local store and traditional thatched roof pub can be found. The waterside Helford hamlet of Durgan is within walking distance. The famous gardens of Glendurgan and Trebah are within a miles walk or short drive with exotic plants and extensive grounds leading down to the Helford River.The popular visitor destination of Falmouth with the world renowned National Maritime Museum is just over 5 miles away. Cornwall's County City of Truro with its striking Cathedral and array of high street and local shops and cafes is well worth a visit and is only half an hours drive.

When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
