With wonderful views over the River and countryside beyond, this freshly renovated fisherman's cottage is only a level five minute walk from all the shops and restaurants in the thriving ancient mariner's town of Fowey.

Finished to a high standard and with accommodation set on three floors to make the most of the views, Riverside is entered via half a dozen railed steps leading up from the main street to the front door.

To one side is a smartly fitted kitchen with beech effect units and a glazed door leading through to an adjoining dining room with patio doors opening to a wooden railed sun deck overlooking the bustling estuary. There is also a modern bathroom W.C. with wash basin and bath with hand shower attachment accessed from the hallway.

Un-railed carpeted stairs lead up to the first floor where there are a cloakroom W.C. with hand basin, a double bedroom with attractive river views through a large picture window and a second bedroom on the landward side with the choice of a 5ft double or 2ft 6in zip-linked twin beds and a decorative old fireplace.

A door from the landing opens to an enclosed staircase which goes directly up to a delightful sitting room on the top floor. Here there is comfortable seating on a laminate floor and magnificent views across the river to the wooded banks at Bodinnick from the dormer windows.

Outside from the sun deck, a flight of narrow timber railed steps lead down to a riverside patio area with a small balcony overhanging the tidal foreshore to enjoy the ever-changing scenery. Occasionally at spring high tide the lower patio can get flooded and due to the proximity of the water, the cottage is not suitable for young children.

A boat shed beneath the property houses the freezer and laundry facilities with space for storage of bikes and beachgear. Parking is in one of the nearby public car parks, the nearest about 50 yards away adjacent to the Bodinnick Ferrywhich provides easy access to the south east villages of Cornwall.

The beautiful Cornish port of Fowey offers a good selection of shops and restaurants, all close at hand, and the beach at Readymoney Cove, close to the rivermouth is within easy reach. Pleasure boats leave from Town Quay in the summer, there are lovely creek and coastal walks nearby, including The Hall Walk, and there is also a seasonal passenger ferry to the fishing village of Mevagissey.

When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
