Trenale Court

Just half a mile from the village of Tintagel, famed for its historic legends surrounding King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, Trenale Court is set in the peaceful rural hamlet of Trenale about one mile from the dramatic cliffs on the North Cornwall Coast.  This group of eight sympathetically converted stone cottages are set around a landscaped courtyard each benefiting from its own enclosed small garden with the added bonus of a shared recreational paddock to exercise dogs and enjoy panoramic sea views and stunning sunsets.  To one side of a quiet country lane, these holiday cottages offer the perfect base to explore the county whether it be on foot or by car.  There is an abundance of walks within close proximity including the coastal footpath and the beautiful Rocky Valley. Tintagel with a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants is less than a 5 minute drive or easily reached on foot and is home to the famous mediaeval castle and Merlins sea cave.  The attractive NT harbour at Boscastle is 2.5 miles away and there is a leisure centre with swimming pool at Camelford, 4.5 miles.  Bossiney Cove, a steady 20 minute walk, reveals a sandy beach at low tide and the surfing beach at Trebarwith Strand is a 10 minute drive.  All eight cottages have their own individual character but there are many similar features and are a favourite for families and friends who wish to holiday together but benefit from independent accommodation.  There is ample parking space for one car per property.

Taking its name from the Dippers that can be seen whilst walking in the Rocky Valley nearby, this single storey cottage is attached to Titmouse Cottage.

Two steps lead up to the front door which opens directly into a bright living room with comfortable lounge seating facing the electric fire, a pine dining suite and a smart run of fitted kitchen units.

A fully glazed door and a couple of steps lead down from the living room to a south and west facing L-shaped patio garden benefiting from virtually all day sun, and a gate opens to the paddock with views towards the sea.

There are two bedrooms with a double and single respectively both enjoying views of the countryside and sea beyond, and a bathroom W.C. with hand basin, shower over the bath and heated towel rail.

If a cot is required the maximum number of people that can be accommodated has to be reduced to two.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Definitions

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
