Experience - The Area...

Within easy reach of the beaches at Duporth and Porthpean and half a mile from the famous 18th century harbour side village of Charlestown, a world heritage site, this former gate house to the Charles Rashleigh Estate at Duporth has been lovingly and sympathetically restored. Duporth Lodge provides a comfortable family home furnished to a very high standard. It retains many of the original features and is a great base to explore the many villages, attractions, walks and beaches the South Coast has to offer. Duporth Lodge is ideal too for an out of season stay for couples in need of some much needed R&R with the adaptable property able to provide a cosy and comfortable base for two.

Charlestown only a 3 minute drive with its, restaurants, tea rooms, pub, hotel and Shipwreck & Heritage Centre is the nearest village. The larger centre of St Austell, 1.8 miles, has a good choice of supermarkets and shops, a railway station, bowling alley, cinema and 4 golf courses nearby. Porthpean beach three quarters of a mile has a sailing club and the fishing harbours of Fowey & Mevagissey are only 8 and 6 miles respectively. The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are within a 10 - 15 minute drive. Newquay Airport and the North Coast are within 30 minutes.

Stay - The Accommodation...

From the gated gravel drive, a level path and three steps open into the entrance vestibule and to one side a gothic arched door leads into a smart triple aspect sitting room with oak effect laminate flooring, comfortable lounge seating set before a gas coal effect fire and French doors leading to a covered verandah. A further Gothic arch from the vestibule leads through to the dining room with laminate floor, dining table and chairs for six and a carpeted staircase to the first floor. Cleverly tucked under the staircase is a small cloakroom with W.C and basin. Glazed double doors open into the light modern well equipped kitchen with a small breakfast table, two tub chairs set either side of the wood burning stove and French doors leading out to the enclosed patio perfect for alfresco dining.

From the dining room a carpeted staircase leads to the first floor landing with exposed beams rising to the apex of the roof. Off the landing are three comfortable bedrooms; a master double with king size Hypnos bed and en-suite fully tiled shower WC and basin and two twin bedrooms with 3ft Hypnos beds, both of which can be combined to make a 6ft superking bed. To complete the first floor accommodation is a family bathroom with corner bath, enclosed shower cubicle with led lighting, W.C and basin.

There is parking for three cars and a garden hugs three sides of the property with a double garage for storage of bikes and beach gear, a level grassed lawn, three steps leading up to the enclosed sheltered patio and a graveled incline back to the front of the property. When the driveway is gated the grounds are enclosed.

Lovely location, absolutely stunning property with every home comfort. Have never stayed in better accommodation, had a fabulous week. Couldn't rate higher. - Mrs J Sellers
"A very cosy property. Perfect for going to nearby harbour of Charlestown. Really well maintained. " Mrs K Cains
"Our third visit to Duporth Lodge. An excellent property always spotlessly clean and beautifully equipped. Well situated for visits and touring, highly recommended." Mr R Champ
"Three generations had a wonderful holiday at Duporth Lodge. The cottage is extremely well appointed and decor and furnishings are excellent but it is still very homely and in no way do you feel restricted by your surroundings. We planned to eat out often but it was so convenient to cook simple meals and enjoy the late evening together with a bottle of wine round the dining table that we never did! Domestic needs are easily catered for by supermarkets close by and although we intended to travel for sightseeing we found more than enough within easy reach. I don't know why I am praising Duporth Lodge so much as we really ought to keep it a secret just for those who know it. " Mr D Howsam
"Duporth Lodge is superb. Exceptionally clean and well equipped and furnished. Lovely location close to Charlestown, perfect for exploring the area." Mr R Champ
"Great house, it had everything we needed and it was very clean and spacious. Great location. We loved visiting the very quiet Duporth beach and sometimes being the only ones there. " Mrs L Clarke
"Duporth Lodge was undoubtedly the best holiday accommodation we have ever had. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished and equipped, absolutely faultless. A perfect holiday." Mr R Champ
"The quality of Duporth Lodge is excellent. Photos with information are certainly true and you are not disappointed on arrival." Mr G Stewart
"This is hands down the nicest place we have ever stayed on holiday. The lodge is equipped with everything you could possibly want, even down to tuppaware. We hope to return next year and would not hesitate to recommend." Mrs R Bartle
"House exceeded expectations. Immaculate base for a variety of surrounding attractions/gardens. Lovely welcome touches i.e. cream tea on arrival, vase of flowers." Mrs J Jackson
"Superb high quality accommodation in a lovely location. Good access to beaches, local shops, restaurants and local attractions such as the Eden Project and Heligan." Mr D Pye
