This detached double glazed family house with spectacular views of the sea and rugged coastline, is set in a superb cliff top position high above Porth Chapel beach.

Approached by a narrow lane that leads from the village of Porthcurno, past the renowned Minack Theatre down to the 12th century church of St Levan and entered through the parking area, a few railed steps lead down to the front door which opens to the hallway, a utility room with shower and an adjacent breakfast room.

There are double glazed Patio doors looking westwards over dramatic headlands and far out to sea. The main living area is a delightful family room with comfortable seating, a dining suite, and a hatchway separating the fitted kitchen.

Leading off the family room are a small TV room and a south facing sun room which provides a spectacular vantage point for watching the bird life circle above the rocks and waves. The remainder of the ground floor accommodation comprises two bedrooms with a 5ft double and twin 3ft beds respectively, a bathroom with vanity basin and a separate W.C.

Upstairs are two further bedrooms each with an en-suite W.C. and basin, one has twin 3ft beds, the other is a large childrens room with two sets of 3ft bunk beds, and there is a shower room on the landing. The unfenced sloping ground around the house makes it unsuitable for children under 5. The splendid sandy coves of Porth Chapel and Porthcurno are a few minutes walk away as are the open air Minack Theatre and Visitor Centre and Porthcurno's secret Wartime Telegraph Museum.

The South West Coastal Path is close by and there are stunning sea views around Gwennap Head leading to Lands End 3 miles away. Penzance, 9 miles, has a wide selection of amenities including a railway station and is the main gateway to the Isles of Scilly by boat.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
