Experience - The Area...
Just yards from the pebbled beach and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this wonderful, freshly renovated Grade II listed 17th Century character cottage, formerly a water millhouse, is set in the small valley of Millook between the picturesque harbour towns of Bude and Boscastle.
The Old Mill is set in a large grassy paddock with a stream running parallel to it. The garden ends only yards from a secluded pebble beach and it is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful corner of North Cornwall, with a plenitude of coastal walks and woodland rambles to explore nearby and an abundance of popular beaches within easy reach.
There are two pubs with restaurants within a 10 minute drive and the spectacular sands of Widemouth Bay with a small grocery store are 2 miles away. Bude is about 6 miles with an extensive range of shops, 18 hole links golf course, watersport activities and coarse fishing available on Bude Canal. The unspoilt natural harbour and village of Boscastle is a half hour journey by car.
Stay - The Accommodation...
Built in the 1800s from the shipwreck of the Sedulous, the solid front door constructed from the ships hatch opens into a slate floored entrance lobby with an adjacent newly fitted bespoke kitchen, and in one corner a 4 step ladder leads up to a single bedroom with a little window overlooking the 38 ft mill wheel.
Two steps up from the kitchen lead to a cosy beamed sitting room with comfortable lounge seating arranged before the large fireplace with the remains of a cloam oven, white washed stone walls and peaceful views over the garden.
To one side, a heavy carved door leads to a charming little dining room with views of the sea from the wooden settle and to complete the ground floor accommodation, a recently upgraded bathroom W.C. with vanity basin and shower over the bath can be reached via a few steps down from the sitting room.
An open tread irregularly shaped wooden staircase leads up in one corner of the lounge to a gallery bedroom with a 4ft 6in solid oak sleigh bed, a cross beamed ceiling, slightly sloping painted floorboards and calming sea views. The renovated 3 ton mill wheel turns continuously as an essential part of its preservation.
There is off road parking for two cars within the garden. The elderly or infirm may find the low curving beams, uneven floors and stairs difficult, and due to the proximity of the running water and mill wheel, pets and children will require supervision in the garden.
Don't forget...
- No TV reception
- Elderly or infirm may find the low curving beams, uneven floors and stairs difficult
- No children under 11
- Babes in arms welcome but unsuitable for toddlers
- This property welcomes a maximum of two dogs. £100 returnable security deposit required if bringing a dog.

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.
Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.
Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.
Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.
If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
It is important to note that a 'Reserved' period can only be booked if the owner wishes to make the 'Reserved' period available for booking. Upon completion of your reservation you will receive confirmation by email or post containing details of the reservation.
