Set in an elevated position close to Fowey with its own right of way down onto the Coastal footpath and where the popular Rashleigh Inn and Sam's on the Beach restaurant both in Polkerris are just a mile away. Family friendly Par beach is a short walk from The Hazard with The Ship Inn serving food throughout the day on the doorstep!

This detached early 1800's Cornish property provides a most convenient and comfortable base to stay with great access to both the South and North coasts. The property has the bonus of far reaching views with seaviews on the horizon from the first floor.

The interesting house name was lovingly given  in errror by a favourite Aunt whose shaky handwriting misspelt the original house name and it stuck!

The traditionally styled property is entered via the handy outer kitchen/boot room. Off the outer kitchen is the well-equipped main kitchen with gas fired AGA. The attractive, spacious conservatory provides additional and versatile living or dining space and opens out onto a large West facing patio/terrace with ample garden furniture provided.

Also to the ground floor you will find a useful shower room WC, a sitting room with comfortable easy seating and separate dining room.

The property is bursting with character and many lovely original features including attractive fireplaces and the now redundant Clome oven.  A few of the rooms can still boast the original tiled and wooden flooring and have been tastefully furnished and decorated to compliment the age and style of the property.

A carpeted staircase leads up to the three bedrooms and family bathroom WC where you will find a double bedroom with sea views towards Dodman and Black Head, a single bedroom with 3ft bed and cot plus a triple bedroom with full size bunk beds and a further 3ft single bed all providing comfortable sleeping for the six guests accommodated. The family bathroom has a bath with handheld shower attachment, wash hand basin and WC.

The Hazard benefits from partially enclosed surrounding gardens with ample car and dinghy parking! Twenty eight Cornish slate wide and shallow steps lead down to the property from the parking area.

The South Coast of Cornwall with the picturesque town of Fowey just a ten minute drive. From Fowey a car and foot passenger ferry will take you across to the hamlet of Bodinnick. The town of St Austell is within a ten minute drive and has a high street for shopping, large multi-screen cinema and selection of supermarkets. Popular visitor attractions such as The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are again within easy reach.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
