Experience - The Area...

Within a 5 minute drive of the sandy beaches at Par Sands and Carlyon Bay and just 10 minutes by car from the delightful harbourside towns of Charlestown and Fowey, Sherbet Lemon provides the perfect base for holidaymakers wishing to explore the South Coast of Cornwall.

The renowned Eden Project houses the largest indoor rainforest in the world and is less than two miles away and there are also a plethora of activities for everyone to enjoy locally including stunning golf courses, off road cycle trails with bike hire, all weather adventure play and gardens galore.   

This light and airy, double glazed semi-detached house, freshly decorated with high ceilings throughout, is set in a residential development with a local bus service to Fowey, Charlestown and St Austell which has a railway station that provides access to Truro and beyond.

There is a handy local supermarket just 500 yards away and a choice of two dog-friendly village pubs within half a mile offering traditional bar and restaurant meals.  St Austell, 2 miles, offers a multi-screen cinema, ten pin bowling, leisure centre, a selection of restaurants, pubs and cafes and the White River shopping complex.  

The quaint fishing village of Mevagissey is about 20 minutes by road or can be reached by a lovely ferry journey across St Austell Bay from Fowey and although very convenient for the South Coast, all the delights of the North Coast are just over half an hour away.

Stay - The Accommodation...

Accessed from the block paved driveway where there is room for one large car to one side of a gravelled area, three steps lead up to the front door which opens to a small lobby.

An inner door leads into a bright and sunny sitting room at the front of the property with comfortable lounge furniture arranged before an electric log effect fire set in the fireplace.  To the rear, there is a modern kitchen with a fully fitted range of quality units and small bistro style dining suite and one step leads down to an adjacent cloakroom W.C. with hand basin. 

Carpeted stairs with handrail lead up from the entrance lobby to the first floor landing, a fully tiled bathroom W.C. with hand basin and electric shower over the bath and two pleasantly light bedrooms with a 5ft kingsize and twin beds respectively. 

From the kitchen, one step leads down through a rear porch with laundry facilities to the enclosed rear garden with a small level lawn and sheltered patio area with views of cherry blossom in the neighbouring memorial gardens.  There is a secure outhouse available for storage of bicycles and beachgear and a pedestrian side gate gives access to the driveway; additional unrestricted parking is on the road outside the property.

When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

Loyalty Discount

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Definitions

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
