Close to Porthcurno beach, The Minack Theatre, the stunning Porthgwarra Cove (most recently connected with THE swimming scene from the television series Poldark) and within walking distance of Nanjizal beach, Raftra Farmhouse provides comfortable family accommodation for up to twelve guests. A typical Cornish granite built family home with easy access to lovely coastal and countryside walks, Raftra Farmhouse is the perfect holiday retreat for families wanting to holiday and relax together.

Raftra Farmhouse can accommodate up to 8 guests with an additional 4 guests accommodated in the separate two bedroom annex.

The Farmhouse

To the ground floor in the farmhouse you will find the main entrance hallway which leads to the large, well equipped and stylish kitchen/diner. The kitchen provides ample storage and work surface space with electric AGA and modern electric fan assisted oven giving you a choice of cooking options!  A farmhouse dining table and chairs within the kitchen seats 8 with additional bench style seating for 4 provided if required. A wood burner provides supplementary heating to the kitchen/diner.

Just off the inner lobby is a comfortable lounge with easy seating and attractive window seating enjoying countryside views. A striking inglenook fireplace and feature wood burner takes pride of place with original beams adding character.  Next to the lounge is a Cornish snug (small lounge) which is kitted out to entertain the younger members of the party with television, DVD player, books and games.

Completing the ground floor layout is a spacious utility/boot room which houses all the laundry and extra refrigeration equipment.  This handy room makes an excellent area too for any four legged members of the party with pet beds provided!

A split staircase with midway landing area takes you up to the bedrooms and bathrooms.

At the top of the stairs on the landing is a separate shower room with wash hand basin. To the front of the property you will find the large master bedroom with super king bed and en suite bathroom WC with bath, handheld shower attachment and wash hand basin. Next to the master bedroom is a twin bedroom with window seat and views to the front. A further twin bedroom to the front again with window seat and views can be made up as a king bed thanks to the versatile zip 'n' link bed arrangement. The final bedroom in the farmhouse is a spacious king size bedroom at the back of the property. All the bedrooms are carpeted and heated by night storage heating.  The majority of bedrooms provide hanging and shelf/drawer space. Finally a large family bathroom WC with bath, handheld shower attachment and wash hand basin.

The Annex

The two bedroom annex is separate to the main farmhouse but located just across the patio. The annex accommodation comprises of a double bedroom with en suite bathroom WC with bath, handheld shower attachement and wash hand basin. A seperate bunk bedded room off the double bedroom with French doors leading out onto the patio and garden completes the annex layout.  The annex is heated via night storage heaters.

Outside to the back of the property there is a lovely enclosed lower garden with lawn and large paved area for alfresco dining. The owners have made clever use of the granite outbuildings and have created a handy wet room WC in one and a charming 'playhouse' for children with the other. A higher tiered lawn garden has super views out across the neighbouring fields and countryside. Next to the property is a lane where a further parking space for a third car is available and the orchard and field that adjoins the property is great for rough and tumble and family ball games. The lane leads down towards the coast and is perfect for early morning or evening walks.

To the front of the property is parking on a loose graveled surface for two cars and a pathway up to the front door and enclosed porch

The nearest village of St Buryan has a small village store and post office as well as the popular St Buryan Inn which serves food throughout the day and evening.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

Loyalty Discount

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Definitions

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
