Penberthy Barn is an exceptional example of a beautifully converted barn which has been tastefully furnished and is superbly equipped.  The property shares its peaceful location with three other cottages which are all set around a feature pond.  Detached and spacious with reverse layout accommodation and the bonus of a hot tub makes Penberthy Barn a worthy contender for your Cornish holiday shortlist.

Seven concrete steps (with handrail) lead up from the gravelled parking area to the side entrance above.

The light and bright open plan living space welcomes you with an array of original features and beams on display. The well equipped kitchen has all the appliances needed with a dining table and four chairs taking centre stage. The living area is comfortably furnished with two large leather sofas and wood burner adding character and supplementary heating if required. A pretty door leads out onto a small decked balcony where views over the neighbouring countryside can be enjoyed. Stripped wooden flooring adds warmth with tasteful Laura Ashley fabrics adding colour and a touch of elegance.

A carpeted staircase with handrail leads down to the two bedrooms and bathroom facilities.

The two pretty carpeted bedrooms comprise of a spacious double bedroom with an exquisitely presented Cornish wrought iron double bedstead. A further entrance door out to the gravelled parking area from this bedroom makes loading and unloading a little easier too!  The ensuite bathroom WC with tiled floor is Beatrix Potter themed and comes with bath, overhead mixer shower and wash basin. The gorgeous twin bedroom completes the sleeping arrangements. Both bedrooms have ample hanging and drawer space between them and the double bedroom also has a television.  Next to the twin bedroom at the bottom of the stairs is a good size shower room WC with large shower cubicle and wash basin.

The property is heated via gas central heating with the wood burner providing supplementary heating if required.

Outside to the front of the property is parking on a gravelled surface for two cars.  A lawn garden to the back of the property is enclosed and private.  The four person hot tub is conveniently located by the main side entrance door and is screened for extra privacy.

The village of St Erth with its pretty church is just a short drive away. In St Erth you will find a friendly local pub (The Star Inn) and village shop as well as train station (with mainline connection) which can transport you through lovely Cornish countryside and along the coast to St Ives and is a trip well worth doing.

St Ives is less than 7 miles away and easily accessible by car.  The nearby town of Hayle has a 'Walkers Welcome' status thanks to its abundance of well-maintained footpaths and trails. The town of Penzance with high street of shops and selection of supermarkets is a twenty minute drive from St Erth.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
