Please note: The oil fired rayburn is for cooking, background heat and some hot water. There are additional electric radiators and an immersion.
Just a short drive from the harbours at Penzance and Mousehole and set on the edge of a wooded valley this detached granite farmhouse dating back to the 17th century has retained many of its original features providing comfortable accommodation for a family to enjoy.

A long drive with Cornish hedging either side leads down to a gravelled parking area with parking for five cars. Approached from the drive a small gate and step down to the enclosed courtyard leading to the front door with a step opening into the large open plan kitchen dining room with a central island, Belfast sink set into the window ledge, ray burn and work surface in one corner of the room with an impressive farmhouse table and ten chairs in the centre with two small sofas arranged either side of an open fire.

Off to one side of the kitchen dining room is a cosy sitting room with oak flooring, comfortable lounge seating arranged before the open fire place and a window seat overlooking the enclosed lawn to the front. To the other side is a light and spacious dual aspect bedroom with French doors and step down onto the lawn, oak flooring, a kingsize bed which can be split to create two 3ft single beds and an en-suite bathroom W.C with oak flooring and wash hand basin.

A timber staircase with handrails leads to the first floor with oak flooring in the landing and bedrooms with tiled bathrooms. There are four comfortably furnished light and spacious bedrooms, two twin bedrooms, a double bedroom and two steps up into the master double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom W.C with wash basin. Completing the first floor accommodation is a family bathroom W.C with a roll top bath, wash hand basin and a corner glazed shower with step up.

There are two garden areas a small patio outside the front door with a concrete path, lawn and two small gravelled terraces each with a step up. A further open lawn is set above the gravelled parking area with the main lawn accessed from the kitchen dining room or from the stableyard to the side with five granite steps and cast iron gate opening into the private large lawn. To one end of the lawn six timber steps with handrails lead up onto a timber decking area with open lawn either side and BBQ perfect for alfresco dining. There is a stable block opposite where the owners have two horses which are attended to twice a day. A public footpath runs down the drive and through the yard in front of the stable yard.

Penzance with its long promenade only a seven minute drive has three supermarkets, a shopping centre, restaurants and harbour and the gateway to the Isles of Scilly. The fishing villages of Newlyn and Mousehole have a small selection of shops, restaurants and pubs with Mousehole having a small stony beach and children's sea water bathing pool revealed at low tide are only three miles by car. Mounts Bay with is beautiful beach and St Michaels Mount which can be reached on foot by causeway at low tide or by a small passenger ferry is only 11 minutes by car. The Minack open air theatre and beach at Porthcurno are 7 miles and there are many gardens and walks along the South West coast path to explore in the area.

Sleeps
Close
When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.
Customer Rating
Close
Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets
Close
There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

Definitions

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks
Close
There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price

It is important to note that a 'Reserved' period can only be booked if the owner wishes to make the 'Reserved' period available for booking. Upon completion of your reservation you will receive confirmation by email or post containing details of the reservation.
