A pretty, traditional listed Cornish cottage with glimpses of the sea and St Michaels Mount from upstairs, Fuchsia Cottage is set in a little walled and gated front garden close to the 14th century Parish Church at Madron, a few minutes drive from the bustling coastal town of Penzance.

A low stable door opens under heavy blooms of wisteria in summer, directly into a charming beamed sitting/dining room which spans the width of the cottage with attractive wooden flooring. A large open Cornish granite hearth with wood burner takes centre stage in the living room.

To the rear of the cottage is a well-equipped neatly fitted kitchen. A family bathroom W.C. with hand basin, bath and shower attachment completes the ground floor layout. A glazed back door opens onto a private and sunny, fully enclosed gravelled garden which the kitchen window overlooks.

In one corner of the sitting room, cottage stairs twist up to two pleasantly furnished bedrooms with double and twin beds respectively. Both bedrooms are carpeted and have low windows set into thick walls with window seats and a distant view between the rooftops below of Mounts Bay can be enjoyed. Due to the steep stairs, this property is unsuitable for toddlers and guests with mobility limitations.

It is possible to park on the road outside the cottage and there is a free village car park 75 yards away. The village of Madron itself has a popular pub which serves food.

Penzance and Mounts Bay with extensive shops and beaches are under 10 minutes drive and the Isles of Scilly are easily accessible via the ferry service from Penzance. The fishing village of Newlyn also famous for producing some of the Countrys most famous artists is just 3 miles away with Mousehole and its lovely harbour 5 miles.

PLEASE NOTE
- It is possible to park on the road outside the cottage and there is a free village car park 75 yards away
- This property welcomes a maximum of two dogs

When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.
Customer Rating
Close
Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets
Close
There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

Definitions

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks
Close
There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price

Reservations
Close
Weeks marked as 'Reserve' (highlighted in blue) can only be 'Reserved' (ie they cannot be booked) at this point in time because availability and prices have not yet been agreed with the owner. You can reserve these weeks in your name on a first come first served basis until availability and pricing has been agreed.

It is important to note that a 'Reserved' period can only be booked if the owner wishes to make the 'Reserved' period available for booking. Upon completion of your reservation you will receive confirmation by email or post containing details of the reservation.
