A charming and cosy semi-detached cottage just for two, Clematis Cottage is located next to the green in the pretty hamlet of Trenale which is close to Tintagel and the dramatic clifftop walks and sandy beaches of the North Cornish coast. Set to one side of a quiet country lane, the cottage is entered from a gated path shared with one other property.

The front door opens into the narrow kitchen with original beams and slate floor. One step leads up to a traditionally furnished sitting/dining room with beamed ceiling, comfortable easy seating and pleasant view over the secluded lawn garden through the quirky window which has been cleverly installed in the original fireplace.

Stairs wind up to the cosy twin bedroom with comfortable pine beds. One step leads up into the en-suite bathroom W.C. with hand basin and electric shower over a half size bath.

At one end of the front patio is the laundry room with a side gate leading to the lovely enclosed garden which has a useful outside W.C., shaded lawn and a little lost garden to be discovered. It is possible to unload the car outside the gate with unrestricted parking on the lane.

Tintagel is half a mile away with an array of independent shops, restaurants, pubs and of course the famous legendary Castle (now ruins but worth a visit for the stunning views alone). The beaches at Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove and the attractive fishing village of Boscastle are 2.5 miles respectively.

When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
