Just a two minute walk from the beach at Downderry via a flight of gated steps and only 6 miles from the picturesque harbour village of Looe, Alfresco is ideally situated for exploring the South West Coast path plus the many beaches and inland attractions this area has to offer.

This detached garden room is tucked away to the rear of the owner's house. Approached from the covered parking area where there is parking for one car, three steps and a sloping path leads to a delightful sun terrace with a further three steps to the entrance.

A half glazed door opens into a small porch and an inner door leads into an open plan living room with a terracotta tile floor, garden dining table and chairs and a futon in front of the large window overlooking the owner's fruit hedge, to complete this space is a neatly fitted galley kitchen. A shower room with W.C and vanity unit is located off one side of the living room with a small double bedroom and window with a partial view of the sea over the rooftops of the neighbouring properties.

The Mediterranean style patio with its pergola, built in bbq and sunny aspect with sea views over the neighbouring roof tops and owners garden at the rear of their property is an ideal area for alfresco dining.

The village centre of Downderry a short walk away has a shop, cafe, pub and restaurant and the south facing beach is only a 2 minute walk from Alfresco. For a wider selection of shops Downderry is equidistant between Liskeard & Saltash 11 miles both with supermarkets, leisure centres and additional shopping with the city of Plymouth 17 miles.

The National Trust houses of Antony, Mount Edgcumbe, Cotehele & Cotehele Mill are all within a 30 minute drive. The picturesque fishing harbours at Looe and Polperro 6 and 9 miles respectively both offer seasonal boat trips and both on the South West Coast. The cliff top golf course at Portwrinkle is a 10 minute drive.

The South West Coast Path enjoys wonderful views along Whitsand Bay to Rame Head, and there are woodland walks inland through the Seaton Valley Countryside Park. A community bus service operates within the local area.

When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £24 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 895 354 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 70% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 80% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 90% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price
