Spiders are common pests which are frequently found in most houses. They usually make their homes in corners and crevices and in the less frequently used areas of a property. The majority are harmless but nobody wants spiders hanging around inside their holiday home.

- White Vinegar
White vinegar works as a spider repellent and drives away all the spiders out of the house. Fill up a spray bottle with white vinegar and water and spray the liquid in the cracks, corners and crevices.
Place a few chestnuts on the windowsills or along your skirting boards to prevent the spiders from entering the house. You can easily keep chestnuts for quite a long time as they don’t rot easily.
- Peels of Citrus Fruits
The peels of citrus fruits are very effective to get rid of spiders. Rub the peels of citrus fruits on the areas where the spiders are found frequently, like the windowsills and bookshelves of the house.
Spiders hate the smell of tobacco so sprinkle small pieces of tobacco around the places where they frequent. You can even soak tobacco in water and spray the mixture all around the house.
- Eucalyptus Oil
Apply a few drops of eucalyptus oil in the corners and cracks; the smell of this oil would keep spiders away. You can even keep eucalyptus leaves in your cupboards, drawers and under large furniture.
- Mint Tea

- Peppermint Oil
Mix up a few drops of peppermint oil to water and spray into the cracks, gaps and corners where spiders can enter easily. Or, add a few drops of oil onto a cotton bud and place it in the areas.
- Baking Soda
Sprinkling baking soda round the house is another beneficial way to keep spiders out of the house. Take a handful of baking soda and sprinkle it on the corners of the door frames and window panes.
Add a tablespoon of turmeric powder to water and make a fine paste. Apply the paste on the spider prone areas of the house. This paste is very effective to drive away spiders but be careful of stains.
