The governments Department for Culture, Media & Sport have recently published their Tourism Action Plan.
The report lays out how the government plans to support the tourism outside of London; including a £40 million Discover England fund. The government aims to make travelling around Britain easier, address the season nature of the industry with a flexible apprenticeship scheme and cut red tape via the implementation of common sense regulation.
Last year was a record breaking year for tourism, with the UK seeing more than 36 million foreign visitors spending £22.1 billion. Tourism brings 1.6 million entry level jobs throughout the United Kingdom and is one of the UK’s most important economies.
The report outlines how the Government is working to active it’s goals through action on:
- the tourism landscape
- common sense regulation
