Set in an attractive white washed terrace of former 1850's Coastguard cottages, Lobster Pot is tucked away against the cliffside in the older part of Portloe and benefits from an enclosed front garden which overlooks the valley and village as well as an elevated clifftop terrace with seating (accessed via a couple of flights of steps) with lovely views out to sea.
Lobster Pot is an ideal base for keen walkers with the South West Coast Path passing through the village. The historic fishing village of Portloe has a pub and the Lugger Hotel located down on the slipway, welcomes non-residents to dine (subject to availability - booking advisable).
The village of Veryan, famous for its round houses is just a couple of miles away and here you will find the cutest village store and post office, conveniently open seven days a week to pick up your daily holiday essentials.
St Mawes with its glorious castle is a twenty minute drive from Portloe. A passenger ferry from St Mawes to Falmouth operates throughout the year and Falmouth is well worth a visit with this popular maritime town being home to the world renowned National Maritime Museum.
Beaches around the Roseland Peninsula such as Pendower and Carne (even during the summer months) remain relatively uncrowded. The pretty villages of Portscatho, Gorran Haven and Mevagissey are all located along the Peninsula and are within a 30 minute drive of Portloe.

The triple bedroom with 3 ft bunks and a single bed is to the rear of the property with views up towards the clifftop terrace.

There is a pretty lawned garden (partially enclosed) to the front plus a terrific clifftop terrace (accessed by a number of stone steps) with barbecue and garden furniture at the rear of the property.
The picture postcard anchorage of Portloe lies sheltered along the stunning Roseland Peninsula. Described by former Poet Laureate, Sir John Betjeman, as ‘one of the least spoiled and most impressive Cornish fishing villages’, the white-washed cottages, rope coils and lobster pots paint a timeless scene.
Holidays in Portloe are best spent exploring the coastal trails that hug this beautiful stretch, from the far-reaching views of Nare Head to the craggy coves of the Molunans. Lovely pub in Portloe, open on boxing day and made to feel welcome when arrived, only downside was drinks were more expensive then where we live (London) also not a great range of drinks but other then that nice pub in a lovely location.

This cottage is cosy, warm, comfortable, clean and the views are amazing! Absolutely perfect, really enjoyed our stay. Amazing coastal walks from the doorstep. The pub a few minutes walk away is friendly and welcoming. Open all year and a great place to go for a lovely meal and a drink . Overall I can’t recommend the Lobster Pot highly enough! Look forward to staying again. Many thanks to the owner for letting us stay and for the welcome pack and to the cleaners for cleaning the cottage to a high standard!

We felt immediately at home here. A peaceful, practical and well equipped cottage in a lovely old village centrally located for many lovely occasions. South West Coast Path both ways make good walking. Previous comments say it all so thanks to the owner for allowing us the opportunity to stay the week. The Ship Inn offers a lovely warm welcome. Best cream tea in years at “Tea Cup” Mevagissey & Pasty’s from Mary’s Grampound Road or Mevagissey.

What a special location in a lovely homely cottage. The house has a really special feel and is clearly well loved and has so many special memories. We enjoyed walks on the cliff paths, Carne Beach, St Anthony’s Head, St Mawes, Kernow Adventure Park amongst other things. Even though the weather wasn’t the kindest it didn’t detract from the beauty and peace of the place.

We have loved this 2 week escape even though it’s been a working holiday. The weather has been glorious what a gift from the lord. We’ve enjoyed coastal walks, swimming at Carne Beach and had a delightful time at church meeting lots of people that know the wonderful owners. Our stay here has been just what we needed after the whirlwinds of leaving home.
