Enjoying sea views and uniquely placed with private access just 50 yards above the sandy sheltered beach at Porthpean and only 1 mile from the 18th century harbour side village of Charlestown, via the South West Coast Path. Retaining much of its period charm, this traditionally furnished detached grade 2 listed house as featured in the 2013 Richard Curtis film, About Time is an ideal base for exploring the many sandy beaches of St Austell Bay, the fishing port of Mevagissey and the pretty sailing town of Fowey.
All the amenities of Charlestown are within 1.5 miles by road including a selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes, children's playground, quayside and small stoney beaches. St Austell, 2 miles has a larger selection of shops and amenities and for the garden lovers the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are within a 15 minute drive.
The bustling coastal villages of Mevagissey & Fowey are 5 and 8 miles respectively, there is bike hire at Pentewan and there are several golf courses close by.
From a level gated gravel drive with parking for six to eight cars the front door opens into the entrance porch with flagstone floor and part glazed doors into the panelled reception hall with a slate floored boot room and W.C with hand basin.
The ground floor accommodation comprises of; an impressive light drawing room with stripped timber floor, Broadwood Grand piano and sea views with French doors leading out to the garden and sea views. Next to this room there is a cosy snug room with timber floor and views across the garden. The carpeted office is a charming quiet room with a desk overlooking the garden to enjoy a bit of relaxation. The dining room has a large table to seat up to 20 guests with a library of books surrounding.
There are two kitchens at Porthpean House; the well-equipped main kitchen off the main hall has all the usual appliances for your convenience as well as a table and chairs to seat up to 10 people, with a further small laundry just off the kitchen with 2 small steps leading to it. From the dining room there is a rear hall which leads to the Blue Kitchen which is also a fully fitted kitchen and has seating for up to 8 people.
Just beyond the second kitchen there is a ground floor twin bedroom and up a few steps to a separate shower room W.C with basin. Also from the rear hall is a spacious games room; an additional light reception room with an ornamental fireplace, 50 inch TV, table football and sea views. French windows and a step lead out to a gravelled path and lawn to the front.

We had such an incredible week assisted by the weather and enjoyed so many aspects of the house and gardens as well as the proximity to the beach for some bracing morning swims. I particularly appreciated you showing us around the gardens and sharing the history of the house and your family. We felt very honoured to be the guardians even for a very short while. The furnishings were so relaxing and comfortable and I was amazed we squeezed 26 around the table! Discovered some new talents within our friends of piano playing and one of the party laid on a marvellous treasure hunt around the local area bemusing some locals as mad groups of folk ran around the villages. Brilliant fun. It would be wonderful to think we could repeat the experience again one day. - Mr & Mrs B Osman

"Excellent for a big family holiday. Easily provided accommodation for 19 of us and we particularly enjoyed the garden with easy access to the beach. Friendly helpful owner and housekeepers." Mr D Dye
