The Bodinnick ferry offers a regular service across the river to Fowey which has a wide selection of shops, pubs and restaurants is just a couple of minutes walk down the fairly steep hill where there is a pub with restaurant. Easy access to the Fowey 'Hall Walk' only a few minutes away.

Description

Entrance
The house is approached by a flight of railed steps and a pathway to the front door where a couple of further steps lead to the entrance porch and central hallway.
Living Room
Off the hallway is a comfortable sitting room with television and a conservatory which leads onto a small sun terrace above the garage.
Kitchen / Dining Room
On the other side of the hallway is a dining room/fitted kitchen. Kitchen appliances include dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric hob and oven, microwave,

Laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer and separate W.C.

Upstairs are a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath.

Master bedroom with double bed, wash basin and partial river views.

The third very small room has a childs single bed tucked under the eaves measuring 2ft 6in x 5ft 8in and is only suitable for the under 12s.
Heating
Heating is via four electric convector heaters to supplement the two night store units.
A small grassy garden is reached by a dozen steps leading up to one side of the house where toddlers and pets will require supervision. There is a large drop around the property as it is hillside, please do not climb on walls or railings. The garden is not enclosed. Furniture provided.

On the banks of the River Fowey estuary in south Cornwall, Fowey is a beautiful old port town, steeped in history. Pastel-painted houses and quaint cottages cling to the water's edge, while the tranquil estuary is filled with luxury yachts and brightly-coloured fishing boats.
Holidays in Fowey revolve around the water. Here you can wake up to wonderful water views and watch boats bob by while you eat your breakfast. Sailors flock to Fowey for the sheltered waters and stunning surroundings, while those you haven’t yet learned the ropes can explore the river by kayak, paddle board or little dinghies. In the historic harbour, you’ll find ferries to pretty Polruan on the opposite side of the estuary, beautiful Bodinnick and the bustling harbour town of Mevagissey. For us, a ferry trip is a must when staying in Fowey - you’ll be treated to beautiful coastal views and might even spot a friendly pod of dolphins!
Those who haven’t found their sea legs will love exploring the stunning surroundings on foot. There are plenty of walks around Fowey, from riverside trails to coastal hikes along the South West Coast Path. Follow the esplanade to Readymoney Cove, a popular, sheltered sandy beach at the mouth of the estuary. It’s a lovely place to relax, sunbathe and swim, and is overlooked by St Catherine’s Castle, an artillery fort built during the reign of Henry VIII. If one beach just isn’t enough, you’ll find several beautiful beaches and picturesque coves nearby, including Lantic Bay, Polkerris beach and Par Sands.
Back on dry land, Fowey’s warren of pretty, narrow streets are filled with artisan shops, interesting boutiques and galleries. You won’t struggle to find somewhere lovely to eat in Fowey; its waterfront boasts lots of old maritime pubs, cafes, restaurants and proper fish and chip shops.
Famous author Daphne Du Maurier lived on the Fowey estuary for most of her life and was inspired by the area’s spectacular scenery and tranquil, peaceful surroundings, which influenced some of her greatest works. In tribute, the town holds the Daphne Du Maurier literary festival every May, an event not to be missed if you are not sure when to book your holiday in Fowey.

Unfriendly reception from lady behind bar and menu misleadingly promised home made tartare sauce with two of our dishes, but they came with sauce in sachets. When raised, we were told their chef had left. Not good enough.

Enjoy the still green waters of Pont Pill on a walk of exceptional beauty through National Trust woodland and creek, and with striking views of Fowey Harbour. This excellent circular route includes two ferry rides and is a fun day out for all.
Brilliant walk which we did at least part of most days we were in the area. Plenty of refreshment stops and stunning views of Fowey estuary and Pont Pill.

Fowey Aquarium

Fowey is a delightful, historic town in Cornwall and its aquarium is a chance to glimpse marine life from the Cornish coast up close. Small but perfectly formed, the aquarium is brimming with opportunities to learn, playing host to a wide range of fish from the tiny gobies and shannies from the shallows, up to conger eels which inhabit deep wrecks. First established in 1952, the aquarium still retains many of the original tanks. Fresh sea water is pumped in daily at high tide and the filtration is minimal, while the majority of fish are obtained locally from fishermen and anglers. A joy for children and adults, opening times vary so check the website before you visit, and prices start at £4 for adults and £2.50 for children.

What a cute little place this is! When the children were younger we stayed in Fowey every year, and the first thing they always wanted to do was visit the aquarium. It has a small touch pond as well. But - it is TINY - literally in one large room. So as long as you understand it is what it is, you won't be disappointed. A nice way to spend 30 mins when in Fowey but don't go just for this.

Polruan Back Beach

In the heart of Polruan, Back Beach is not short of facilities and nearby shops and restaurants. A pretty little beach that’s popular with families, it has beautiful views across the river to Fowey and is a lovely place to watch the world go by with all the boats pottering along in front of you. It’s predominantly a sand beach, leading to a sheltered section of the river, so it’s good for swimming, but there aren’t any lifeguards around. The only complication for access is that it’s very difficult to park in the village, and it’s a considerable walk down the steep hill from the car park at St Saviours, or a ferry ride across the river from Fowey. Therefore, it’s best to combine a visit with a day exploring the village itself to make the most of it.

Between Polruan and Polperro along the coastal path, Lantivet Bay is only accessible at low tide when a sand and pebble beach is revealed. Parking is in the National Trust car park at Polruan, where there are toilets as well, but there aren’t any facilities closer to the beach itself. Dogs are allowed all year round, which is lovely as it’s the perfect beach to incorporate into a walk. The National Trust recommends a charming circular route, starting in the car park and taking in 2.4 miles of beautiful bays and surrounding landscape, and giving you the chance to explore the area with its rich smuggling heritage.

Popular with families, this idyllic sandy cove offers safe swimming, fantastic watersports and interesting rockpools aswell as tempting beach restaurants. If you're feeling active there are plenty of events throughout the year including beach yoga, beach cleans, sailing events, sea swim and stand up paddleboarding events and more. Hire a paddleboard, learn to sail or simply flop on the sand with a good book, the choice is yours. Plenty of parking at the main Polkerris carpark just 200yards from the beach.

The Moorings is a lovely property with a large outdoor roof terrace over the garage perfect for eating out. It has lots of equipment in the kitchen including dish washer and washer/dryer. The beds are comfy and the towels are fluffy. Nice power shower. It is just a five minute walk from the ferry to Fowey, but very steep! Boat trips to Mevagissey, boat and paddle board hire in the bay, ferry to Polruan all in close proximity. Lots of dog friendly pubs and restaurants. 15 minute drive from Looe and Polperro. Fowey is an upmarket little town with lovely shops in small alleyways. Cider, Cornish pasties, seafood and ice cream in abundance. Beautiful part of the world.

Love the house and the pub at the bottom of the road. If you don't mind spending on the ferry to cross to Fowey it's perfect. The Hall Walk to Pont is beautiful, Polruan great little place, then back to Fowey is fab.
