Regrettably the pub is under new management and food was disappointing- as was the ‘local’s’ discount on drinks which was in effect a holiday makers ‘tax’ and hiked the price of our round (pint of cider and a white wine) from £10.35 to £11,70!! Bad business planning given that the establishment relies heavily on non local trade- prices considerably highly that other venues

The Merrymoor Inn
(Less than a mile)

For three generations of our family we have been creating dishes from the land & sea of Cornish Shores.

Our team of chefs led by a head chef John Fish pride themselves on using locally sourced fresh foods. Be it from the boats at Newlyn Harbour, cuts from our local butcher or fresh seasonal produce.

Forget any pretence, good food means good ingredients made into a dish worth eating.

By the beach, great views, good food & drinks and Cornish hospitality

it's that simple.

Merrymoor never disappoints- breakfasts are amassing staff friendly and accommodating- fabulous views from the terrace too

September 2023

We had a meal at the Merrymoor inn and the food is delicious. On booking they were really helpful in finding us a time to come even though extremely busy. Our waitress on the night was very professional and service was very smooth, we weren’t waiting ages for our food . Definitely returning next year but will book ahead.

South West Coast Path, Cornwall
South West Coast Path, Cornwall

Meandering around the South West coast of England is a whopping 630 miles of incredible scenery, ripe for exploring on a dedicated footpath. As the longest National Trail in the UK, the South West Coast Path runs from Minehead in Somerset, along the Devon and Cornwall coast, and all the way to Poole Harbour in Dorset. Sections of the path make for delightful afternoon strolls, or you can be more adventurous and head out on a longer mission. It’s a wonderful way to explore the heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery in Cornwall and the South West, bringing you up close and personal with the natural beauty of the area.

Walking the coast path is the main reason we come to Cornwall. You can access the path directly from Dolphins Leap to Bedruthan Steps and beyond in one direction and Watergate Bay and beyond in the other direction. Boscastle to Tintagel is a wonderful walk.

Mawgan Porth beach is amazing it’s less busy than Newquay beach but still has great waves for surfing. It’s a large sandy beach and it feels spacious. This beach is dog friendly all year round so it’s the perfect choice for families with fury friends. Plus the nearby pub and restaurant is also dog friendly.

October 2023

We had a very enjoyable stay with great weather, we would recommend the Travellers Rest pub/restaurant for the welcome good wholesome food and beer. We did feel that the council car park charges were a bit excessive but understand the difficulties all local authorities are facing at the present time; however, this could become a reason for visitors to reconsider visiting Cornwall in years to come, we did find it expensive compared to the many holidays we have spent in Cornwall over the last 47 years.

August 2023

It was our fifth stay in Crab cottage and we always enjoy our stay.

June 2023

Yes, loved the cottage, felt very comfortable and safe for the dogs too. Fridge and freezer was brilliant, found a little dog walk for them on the local camping site, maybe let others know about it in the notes.

October 2022

Lovely stay in a wonderful place. Had difficulty with cooker at start of the holiday but managed to work it out - apparently previous people had similar problems so that would have been useful to know. A person was sent to fix it during our stay but it was ok if the instructions were followed. Lovely shower room. Single bed possibly better for children as a tight squeeze to get in and wooden frame gave bruises! Verity very helpful with any issues and I would definitely recommend.

July 2022

Lovely cottage in a perfect location

May 2022

A very comfortable cottage in a great location. We enjoyed visits to Newquay, Truro, Padstow, Port Isaac, Wadebridge & Cardinham woods. Perfect area for a holiday with dogs….our 2 loved it here.
