Experience - The Area...

This delightful cosy 15th century building, one of the oldest in the port, nestles in the very heart of this picturesque harbour of Port Isaac where the TV series Doc Martin was filmed. The renovated Harbour Loft is literally a stone's throw away from the waters edge and boasts arguably the best uninterrupted panoramic views of this exquisite bustling harbour and Cornish coastline.

Beneath Harbour Loft is Outlaw's Fish Kitchen, TV chef Nathan Outlaw's most recent restaurant venture serving a variety of small seafood dishes sourced from the local fishermen's early morning catch - www.outlaws.co.uk/fishkitchen

It is possible to briefly unload outside Harbour Loft and parking is in the car park at the top of the village. On your doorstep, there is a choice of fish and chips, Cornish pasties, fishmongers and afternoon cream teas with freshly baked cakes. There is also a local pub with a good selection of foods and a grocery store at the top of the village about a quarter of a mile away.

For a wider choice of amenities the market town of Wadebridge is about 9 miles. Port Isaac and Port Gaverne have small stoney beaches at low tide and the glorious sandy beaches on the Camel Estuary, including Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock are all approximately a 15 minute drive. The South West Coast Path meanders out of the village in both directions offering spectacular scenery and there are three golf courses within easy reach.

Stay - The Accommodation...

Steeped in history, the Harbour Loft was originally two fisherman's cottages which now take up the entire upper level of this enchanting building. It retains much character with uneven floors and walls. It is entered directly from the street with a low front doorway and narrow carpeted staircase leading straight up to the hallway.

The accommodation consists of a bathroom with saniflo toilet, hand basin, shower over the bath and heated towel rail, a snug/cot room with casual seating ideal for reading and two bedrooms in a simple relaxed decor. There is a double bedroom at the rear with a 5ft bed beneath a skylight window, and the second smaller bedroom has 2ft 6in twin beds. At the far end of the hallway, a low doorway leads into a quaint living room that spans the width of the cottage enjoying panoramic views of the tiny harbour with its fishing boats and the dramatic coastline.

With the sound and sight of the sea close by and the sloping floors and ceilings you could almost believe you were on the deck of a galleon ship. On one side, a step leads down to a part fitted bespoke kitchen with painted wooden floorboards and a small dining suite set next to the window making the most of its harbour side location. On the opposite side, comfortable lounge seating overlooks the ever changing scenery and an ideal vantage point to watch the St Breward Silver Band and the famous Fisherman Friends perform on the quayside on summer evenings.

The view, position and comfort in this little apartment are unequalled in Port Isaac in my opinion. The décor and furnishings is of good quality and the ambience sublime. Highly recommended. - Mrs S Marston
"Lovely place to visit, we could not have been more central for Port Isaac. Clean, comfortable accommodation with a superb view. WiFi not an issue, read a book and relax." Mr J Simpson
"Delightful cottage accommodation in a prime location overlooking the harbour and close to restaurants/pubs. We whiled away many an hour watching the sea and the daily bustle of the village and its many dogs. " Ms J Wrigley
"Great week in a great place." Mr T Meeus
"The best location in Port Isaac to watch everything and everyone. Enjoyed 2 days of Doc Martin filming around the village and observing the local fishermen come and go in all weathers during our 7 day stay. Scrumptious restaurants, pubs and sweets shops. Gorgeous sights and sounds, all in a classic waterfront fishermans cottage with very nice comfortable amenities. " Mrs I Scott Smith
