A short footpath crosses over a stream and leads on to the dunes and three miles of golden sandy beach and also links up with the South West Coastal Path. Perranporth has a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants all within a couple of minutes level walk and is served by local bus connections to Newquay, St Agnes and Truro. Surf hire shops offering surf lessons, riding stables, a gliding club, tennis courts and a golf course are all available locally. Padstow, St Ives and Falmouth are all within a 20 mile radius.

A holiday in Perranporth promises sand, sea and simply stunning scenery. This beautiful coastal resort in north Cornwall boasts a three-mile-long sandy beach, excellent surf and a bustling high street with several independent shops, cafes and bars.
The village has evolved around the beach, where you can learn to surf and kitesurf, snorkel, sail and generally splash about. Those not surfing can dip toes in the ocean at low tide when Perranporth Beach opens up to Penhale Sands, an extension of the bay for shell-seekers. The beach provides endless opportunities for relaxing, playing or simply taking a leisurely walk. If you have young children in tow, it’s easily accessible – you can just settle yourself on the sand close to the village, put down your beach towels and relax. Further afield, or if the tide’s in, older kids can explore the extensive sand dunes, which are teeming with wildlife, to catch a glimpse of butterflies and lizards. If the tide’s right out, walk up the beach to Ligger Point, just a two-mile jaunt away, for fantastic views and great birdwatching.
Try your hand at surfing at lifeguard-manned Trevaunance Cove or Holywell Bay, where professionals provide surfing lessons for surfers of all levels. Other nearby surf beaches include Crantock, Polly Joke, Penhale and Perran Sands – always be aware of rip currents and take local advice.
Perranporth’s golden sands are less than a couple of minutes walk from the village’s shops and restaurants, including ‘the UK’s only true beach bar’. The Watering Hole is a great restaurant and bar with views to match. Sit on the terrace to drink local real ales with your toes in the sand or head inside to dance until you drop. Beach barbecues, cocktails and live music nights for fun-loving beach bums are also on the menu.
When you've explored the cafés, boutique shops and ice cream parlours, head out across the countryside. The South West Coast Path runs right through Perranporth and rambles to St Agnes in the south, or Holywell Bay just north to reveal some spectacular coastal views.
Perranporth is also an ideal base from which to explore the rest of Cornwall. For day trips, picturesque Crantock is a short drive away, as is Trerice, an Elizabethan manor house with stunning gardens to explore. Both the cathedral city of Truro and the beautiful beaches of Newquay are only nine miles away, and Padstow, St Ives and the Eden Project are all within an easy 40-minute drive. Padstow’s Cornish Wine Tours offer trips to visit the best of the Cornish vineyards, from Camel Valley, Trevibban Mill, Knightor Winery and Bosue Vineyard. For theatre buffs or those who just love stunning views, the Minack Theatre is an inimitable experience: a stunning open-air theatre perched cliffside over Porthcurno Beach. Take a cushion and a bottle of wine and watch one of the productions as the sun sets.

Visited here on New Year's Eve. although they dont take bookings we go a lovely booth table. Food was small plate and we had one of everything! it was all very good. Service was a little inattentive, but everything came out together and the rose wine was delicious!

The New Inn serves good food and champions fresh seasonal ingredients from local farms and suppliers. Expect the pub classics and traditional Sunday roasts. There's also a large car park, as well as an outdoor children's play area.

Visitors are welcome 7 days a week, who will find plenty of expert help and golf club hire in the golf shop. There's also a bar and restaurant in the clubhouse where you can refuel after a round. The clubhouse bar has beautiful views of both the course, and the coast beyond.

Just outside Newquay, it’s a beautiful day for the whole family, with lots included in the one ticket including events, a chance to meet the engines (which are every inch real life Thomas the Tank Engines), and even a crazy golf course. There’s also a Whistlestop Café at the station, a Carriage Café for cream teas and drinks, and an Ice Cream Express, which, as you can imagine, is seriously popular!

Great attraction for families with young children and older couples who just want relative peace and quiet, Eric Booth the original owner had a vision and the LVSR is a product of his vision. Eric has sadly passed away, but the new owners are following in his footsteps, with their own twist, great place to visit.

Perranporth Beach

Perranporth is a huge golden sandy beach loved for its surf conditions, towering sand dunes and beachside facilities. At low tide, Perranporth and Penhale join together to form a 3-mile stretch of sand, so there’s plenty of space for everyone here. Young families love the accessibility of the town-side beach, where there are rock pools to explore, streams to paddle in and cafes nearby for ice creams and pasties. Those seeking more space can wander towards Penhale and find a secluded spot in the sand or on the dunes. The sea is always peppered with surfers and body boarders, with lifeguards on duty from Easter until the end of October. For those who prefer a calmer sea swim, there’s a bathing pool, Chapel Rock, hidden amongst the rocks and revealed at low tide. Dogs are welcome on the beach throughout the year, however during the summer holidays, they must be kept on leads from 9am - 5pm. As the sun sets over the sea, visitors flock to The Watering Hole, a pub set right on the sand, for cold drinks and good food.

Holywell Bay Beach

The archetypal north Cornish beach, Holywell Bay has a wide sweep of golden sand, great surf conditions and sprawling sand dunes. Stretching for a mile at low tide, there's loads of space for everyone, no matter what your ideal beach day looks like. Young families will love building sandcastles, exploring rockpools and playing in the shallow streams, surfers and bodyboarders will enjoy the consitent Atlantic swell and peace-seekers can find a quiet spot amongst the dunes to sit and read, dry off after sea swims or watch the sunset. There's also a magical cave to expore at low tide, filled with stalagmites. During the summer season, the National Trust-owned beach is covered by lifeguards, dogs are welcome all year round, and there's parking and facilities around a 5-minute walk away in Holywell village.
Lovely walk to this beautiful bay. Surf board and wetsuit hire available. As a swimmer the waves were exhilarating without there being too many bodyboarders to swim safely as in some other bays. 10min walk to toilet.

Sheltered by Pentire Point and sandwiched between the busier beaches of Holywell Bay and Crantock beach, Porth Joke - or Polly Joke to locals - is a stunning, secluded cove. Totally unspoilt, there's a narrow sweep of fine sand and beautiful clear waters. A 15-minute walk from the nearest car park at West Pentire or Cubert Common, it's worth the effort for the peace and serenity. Like its neighbours, Polly Joke is great for swimming, bodyboarding and surfing, but beware that there's no lifeguard cover, nor facilities, so make sure to pack a picnic. At low tide, rockpools and caves are revealed, which are great fun to explore, while during the late spring and early summer, the surrounding headlands bloom with wildflowers. Porth Joke allows dogs throughout the year.
Crantock Beach

Crantock beach is a beautiful expanse of soft golden sand backed by grassy dunes on the western shore of the Gannel estuary. Owned and tended to by the National Trust, there's a car park, toilets and cafe nearby, making this a popular spot for families. Not only great for sandcastle-building and sunbathing, Crantock is popular for surfing and bodyboarding, with boards and canoes available to hire from the beach, and lifeguard cover throughout the summer season. On calm days, the turquoise seas are also well worth exploring armed with snorkel and flippers. The South West Coast Path backs the beach, leading to the famous poppy fields of Pentire Point and the secluded Polly Joke cove. Crantock is also dog-friendly all year round.
