Description

Experience - The Area...

A peaceful single storey barn conversion perfectly situated for those who wish to get away from it all, in a lovely unspoilt area of Bodmin Moor that has panoramic views of Alex Tor and Roughtor. Set at the end of the owners private farm lane in an area of outstanding natural beauty with an abundance of birds and wildlife, the property is double glazed and centrally heated providing warm and cosy accommodation all year round.

The moorland village of St Breward is 3 miles away where there is a shop, church and traditional pub, and the town of Camelford with a selection of local shops, pubs and a leisure centre is about a 10 minute drive. Swallow Barn is conveniently located for the beaches and cliff paths on both the North and South coasts which can be reached in half an hour by car as well as the Eden Project. Locally there are excellent walks, fishing, and pony trekking available, and the property is also situated along the National Cycle Route. Lanhydrock House at Bodmin is within easy reach.

Stay - The Accommodation...

Approached from the gravel parking area, a gated path leads through the enclosed garden to the stable front door which opens to a delightful open plan living room converted from a 19th century milking parlour. Furnished to a high standard, the ceiling rises to the apex of the roof with exposed cross beams. There is a smartly fitted kitchen area, a small dining suite and comfortable lounge seating before a wood burning stove. There are lovely views of the moor and surrounding countryside from all the windows.

An inner hallway and one step leads down to a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath, and at the end of the hall, one step continues down to an attractive master bedroom with the choice of a 6ft super king or 3ft twin beds and reclaimed pine furniture. Two skylight windows with solar powered, remote controlled blinds allow visitors to watch the stars at night.

At the front of the property there is a sheltered patio area and 4 steps leading down to a walled and gated lawned garden with a granite topped table and tranquil views of the surrounding countryside. Pets are welcome but dogs will need to be kept under control as the neighbouring fields may sometimes contain livestock including rescue ponies.

Myself and my husband have just enjoyed our 3rd visit to Swallow Barn and will most definitely be returning next year. It's a real home from home and the most well equipped, clean and comfortable accommodation we have ever had the pleasure to stay in. If you seek peace and tranquillity with the most stunning views then look no further. The owners are the most loveliest, most hospitable hosts who are clearly passionate about what they do. Heaven on earth. - Mrs L Turner
"The owners of Swallow Barn had thought of everything. We loved the location, really peaceful and relaxing. The best self catering accommodation I have stayed in." Mrs J Hale
"Absolutely perfect in everyway. We love it and hope to return. " Ms G Hanna
"Great dog friendly holiday, dogs very welcome." Mrs D Murphy
"Our fourth visit to Swallow Barn which is now most definitely my favourite holiday destination. It has everything one could wish for set in the most idyllic, stunning and peaceful countryside. It is immaculate and tastefully furnished to an exceptionally high standard with everything one could possibly need. The owners are fantastic hosts who are always on hand, but never intrusive. They provide so many little extras like a great welcome pack, fresh eggs and even treats for visiting dogs and nibbles for the horses grazing on their adjacent land. The feed station for the wild birds in the garden is always well stocked and it is such a pleasure to see so many feathered visitors, and even binoculars are provided to add to this pleasure. I cannot recommend Swallow Barn highly enough to those seeking an away from it all, restful holiday. " Mrs L Swallow
"The cottage is a wonderful cosy house with everything you need and more. The garden is fenced/enclosed and a green heaven. The perfect place to relax and discover the Cornish way of life. The owners are the most caring hosts. " Mr F Moock
"Swallow Barn is by far and away our favourite place to visit. We have stayed there for seven Christmases which perhaps speaks for itself. We go away to many places in Britain and can honestly say Swallow Barn is the best. Wherever else we go, nothing compares. We think this is because rather than just providing a place to stay, the owners really want you to have a great time and we always love staying at Swallow Barn." Mr D Merryweather
"Swallow Barn is the most perfect get away so tranquil and beautiful. The accommodation is the most comfortable and cleanest we've ever stayed in. We honestly cannot fault it at all. We first discovered Swallow Barn last year when we spent our honeymoon here and we fell in love with the place immediately. We brought our dog here both times and everything you need or could possibly need is here. Owners are perfect hosts and the loveliest people you could wish to meet." Mrs L Turner
"This was not our first time at Swallow Barn and it certainly wont be our last. The owners are great hosts, their attention to detail is second to none." Mr R Beck
"This is my fourth visit in less than 2 years so I think this indicates how lovely Swallow Barn is." Miss R Catmur
"This beautiful house and surroundings is always a perfect hideaway for us from stress and loudness in our everyday lives. Its created by the owners as a little home where you feel highly welcome and no comfort is missing. In front of the door you find yourself at once in the stunning landscape of Bodmin Moor with a spectacular view of Rough Tor. We love it and we surely will come back a sixth time." Mr & Mrs P & R Schuh
