Description
Experience - The Area...
With views of Bude Canal and glimpses of the sea and Summerleaze beach about 500 yards away, Wharfinger combines period charm and modern comforts with spacious accommodation and a secluded garden and is an excellent base from which to enjoy the facilities of Bude.
Bude has been voted the best UK Coastal Resort in the British Travel Awards so it will not let you down with its cafes, restaurants and shops galore in this superb seaside town.
Why not enjoy a walk along the South West Coast Path or take a stroll along the towpath; the canal also hires out a pedalo or a small rowing boat for you to enjoy messing about on the water.
There is a sports recreation ground close by where you'll find pitch and putt, crazy golf, table tennis as well as squash courts; and Widemouth Bay, Crackington Haven and Boscastle are all less than 30 minutes in the car where you can explore the North Coast and more.
Stay - The Accommodation...
An open driveway with parking for two full size cars leads to the entrance porch with space for beach clothes or coats leading into a welcoming inner hall. The ground floor provides two sitting rooms: the one at the front has a gas fire set in a marble hearth for cosy spring or autumn evenings and a bay window looking across the canal with oblique views of the beach; the sitting room to the rear has patio doors leading on to a small terrace and steps up to the garden.
Beyond the sitting rooms is a large, well fitted galley kitchen with an archway through to a light and spacious conservatory/breakfast room with table and seating for ten. The ground floor is completed by a shower room WC with power shower and wash basin.
Carpeted stairs lead up from the hall to the first floor bedrooms. The stairs divide at the top and to the right are two twin bedrooms; to the front looking over the canal and to the rear overlooking the garden and parish church with French doors to a small railed balcony. To the left of the stairs the front bedroom has a 5ft double bed and an attractivebay window facing the canal; the rear bedroom has twin beds, a vanity basin and views over the garden. From the landing there are three steps down to a spacious upstairs bathroom WC with shower over the bath and wash basin.
There are three levels to the outside space at Wharfinger: reached by a few steps with hand rail from a small terrace accessed from the breakfast room and rear sitting room is a sheltered patio with seating and a small table; further steps lead to a paved area with a table and seating for eight to eat outside; and a third flight of steps leads to a pleasant lawned area with central tree.
For larger parties of up to 12 people, Wharfinger can be rented together with Combermere Cottage, where a locked gate can be made available giving access through the garden.
