Enjoy the relaxed pace of Cornish life when you book a holiday in Bude. Cornwall’s most northern town, Bude has been a popular spot for a seaside holiday since the Victorian times and hasn’t lost its allure thanks to its stunning scenery and abundant variety of things to do.

Holidays in Bude are a beach lover’s dream. Right on the doorstep of the town centre you’ll find two huge sweeps of golden sand, Crooklets beach and Summerleaze. Whether you’re dreaming of sunbathing, building sandcastles, swimming or surfing, both beaches offer plenty of space to sprawl out, acres of soft sand, seasonal lifeguard cover and good surfing conditions. If you want to avoid the Atalantic swell, you’ll find the sheltered open-air seawater pool, Bude Sea Pool, on Summerleaze beach, plus there’s plenty of rock pools for those who prefer to paddle. Often much quieter than Bude’s main beaches, Sandymouth Bay is only a 15 minute drive away. Owned by the National Trust, we love its huge sweep of sand and wild sea views. Dogs are allowed here all year round, so it’s a great spot for pet-friendly holidays.

Use your holiday in Bude as an opportunity to learn how to surf; there are several great surf schools and hire shops, catering for all ages and abilities, and Bude’s breakwater offers sheltered waves at Summerleaze beach, perfect for beginners. Those with more experience will love Widemouth Bay, Sandymouth Bay and Crackington Haven, where you’ll find great surf and consistent swell.

The South West Coast Path runs through Bude and offers endless opportunities for outdoor adventures. Follow the headlands to Widemouth Bay, or further still to Crackington Haven, enjoying spectacular coastal views.

If you’re planning a family holiday in Bude, there’s so much to see and do. As well as family-friendly beaches and safe swimming at the seawater pool, you’ll find a leisure centre, crazy golf, soft play, bowling, and more. Keen golfers can play a round at Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club whilst admiring the sea views. For a great day out, jump in the car for 30 minutes to Tintagel and explore the dramatic castle ruins - thought to be the birthplace of King Arthur. Just a stone’s throw from the border with Devon, you can also spend your holiday in Bude exploring North Devon’s fishing villages and beaches.

You’ll find no shortage of great places to eat and drink in Bude, from laid-back beachfront cafés and seafood restaurants to proper pubs and traditional Cornish pasty shops.

Having visited Bude two to three time a year for the past 10 years, The Brendon Arms has always been a favourite of ours to eat in. Lovely food and very welcoming staff. This time we visited in June 2023 and were very disappointed to see that the menu had changed drastically and wasn't half as nice as it used to be. Staff still lovely but food left a lot to be desired. Therefore we only visited once this time.

I enjoyed myself, but my 15 year old son thought it was a bit slow - he's used to electric scooters, etc. It was more a tour of a holiday park than a "scenic tour", which was a bit disappointing. The whole thing was over in about 45 minutes. Hard to work out where it was from the carpark, as there were no signs.

Museum of Witchcraft
(12 miles)

(2)

A magic experience to enjoy while you’re on holiday in Cornwall, the Museum of Witchcraft is in the village of Boscastle and was the creation of Cecil Williams whose fascination with the subject started in childhood.  He set up the Cornish museum in 1960, saying it was three miles from a prehistoric maze stone carved into a living rock face, ‘proof that from ancient times man and his magic making with the world of spirit were active in this area’.  Today you can visit to explore the collections or enjoy seasonal events such as candlelit evenings and Halloween at the museum.

Summerleaze Beach
(Less than a mile)

(2)

Less the five minutes on foot from the centre of Bude, Summerleaze Beach is an easy beach to get to and enjoy for the whole day.  There’s a river flanking the sandy beach and it’s sheltered by a breakwater, making it popular with families and surfers.  You can book beach huts daily or weekly, and adding to its charm is a part man-made/part natural salt water sea pool to swim in at the foot of the cliff, that’s been welcoming swimmers since it opened in 1930.  There’s lifeguard cover in the summer months, dogs need to be kept on leads from May to September, and there are toilets and disabled toilets close by as well as an RNLI shop, sandy play area, a beach café, and a large car park that leads directly to the sand dunes.

Widemouth Beach
(3 miles)

(2)

Three miles south of Bude, Widemouth Bay Beach is a long, open bay that’s popular with families and surfers, while at low tide there are hundreds of rock pools to explore.  It’s a wonderful place to learn to surf or body board thanks to fantastic conditions and lots of local surf schools in the surrounding area.  There’s free parking at both ends of the bay as well as viewing points.  Dogs are welcome throughout the year on the south section of the beach, otherwise known as Black Rock, but on the northern part there are seasonal dog bans.  It has a wild feel to it, which adds to its appeal, and there is lifeguard cover in the summer, but nonetheless do be careful when swimming.

The wild Blackrock Beach is found on the south side of Widemouth Bay but becomes isolated at high tide.  The point and reef breaks here make is a well known spot for surfers, and the rock pools exposed at low tide draw families and nature lovers of all ages to this lovely spot.  The cool little café here serves a tasty brunch or lunch including some great seafood.

(3 miles)

A spectacular National Trust beach on the dramatic stretch of coast between Bude and Morwenstow.  With an impressive backdrop of sheer cliffs dating back millions of years and sand exposed as the tide recedes, Sandymouth is popular amongst surfers and families alike.  There is a large car park at the top of the cliff and then the walk down to the beach is via a steep path with steps making Sandymouth unsuitable for those who are less mobile. Once on the beach you’ll find a seasonal café, toilets and surf hire along with  lifeguard cover during peak months.

October 2023

Brilliant cottage with everything you need for a stay in Bude …easy walking distance from beach , restaurants etc . Would definitely recommend.

September 2023

Once again Little Lynstone has provided an excellent stay. The house has everything needed to make you feel at home. Bude has surpassed all expectations once again, just a shame we can no longer afford to move here.

September 2023

A much enjoyable stay. The only thing which would have improved it was if the weather had been a bit better but I don't think you can do anything about that. The property is ideally located with everything within a short walking distance. Would certainly look at staying there again if visiting Bude in the future.

September 2023

Thanks for the fantastic stay this week. Bude is lovely, with everything you could need within walking distance. The house was very comfortable with cosy bed sheets and nice, bog towels. The perfect base to explore all the nearby towns and attractions. Weather was 50/50 but we managed to still do everything we planned to. Brendan Arms highly recommended.

September 2023

We had a great stay at Little Lynstone we have holidayed in Cornwall for many years, but never stayed in Bude before. We were pleasantly surprised how much it had to offer. Loved swimming in the sea pool and Tommy's Pit and enjoyed walking on the beach at low tide. We had a wonderful day at Stangles Beach well worth the climb down and the few naturists were very sociable. Loved the house, comfortable beds and very well equipped. Thank you for the coffee, biscuits etc. Bonnie was very pleased with the bones.

August 2023

Another lovely stay at Little Lynstone weather was mixed but never cold so we had a great time. Brendon Arms didn't disappoint, always worth a visit. The house is a real home from home and the beds are so comfy! Boys did a surf lesson with Big Blue Surf School and had a fabulous time in the waves.

July 2023

Having had pretty rainy and miserable weather for our stay here in Bude, it was lovely having such a well fitted and cosy house to come back to after windy walks on the beaches and afternoons surfing. We thought the location couldn't have been more perfect, being only a short walk from the local beaches, town and river, and of course so close to The Brendon Arms which we spent a few nights at getting a drink.

July 2023

We've really enjoyed our stay at Little Lynstone. The house is a real home from home, in a great location. The weather has been rather wet but we have managed to enjoy our time at the beach when we can. We have liked being able to walk into Bude and try some of the cafes and beaches and enjoyed a couple of evening meals at the Brendon Arms. We hope to visit again in the future.

June 2023

Thank you for letting us stay in this beautiful house. We have been to Bude on a number of occasions and this house is by far the best. I've got a feeling we will be back.

June 2023

We've had a lovely stay, loved the house with everything needed for our stay. Such a lovely sunny position. We have enjoyed Bude and the area surrounding it. Thank you for the treats.

April 2023

We've had a lovely stay at Little Lynstone this week despite Storm Noah bringing the high winds and rain which meant we couldn't use the wood burner. Such a beautiful house with everything we could've dreamed of. Very sad to be leaving but hopefully we can be back soon.

October 2022

Excellent stay at Little Lynstone again it truly feels like a home from home

September 2022

This our 4th stay at Little Lynstone. Every year there have been small improvements. This year it was the plush carpets. The only small criticism is that some people don’t seem to put out the recycling. The collection didn’t fall on the week of our stay. We love Little Lynstone!

September 2022

Our second visit. Lovely property in a great location.

June 2022

Very enjoyable stay, comfortable and well equipped cottage and lovely garden. Also good views both front and back.

April 2022

Had a lovely stay again. Location great. Love the house. Weather great for a change for us?

October 2021

Very nice property well equipped and ideally placed to explore Bude on foot.

June 2021

Very conveniently situated for nice walks and the town and beach.

April 2021

The property is in an excellent location for us. A short walk to the town and all the amenities but quiet and peaceful. Not on a busy road.

October 2020

We've just had another fabulous week at your lovely house in Bude. Great place to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary – lovely surprise to find Cava waiting for us. Weather mostly good so had some great walks on the beach. Lockdown started so not sure when we will be back but hopefully it won't be too long.

October 2020

Been coming to Bude for 30+ years with each time better than the visit before. Lovely house, great location making for a wonderful break. It won't be long before we book again.

September 2020

We have had a fab week here. This house is very cosy, and we quickly felt at home. Location is great away from the centre but a close short walk to everything. This is our first visit to Bude, but we hope to return. Some stunning coastal walks north and south from the house. Enjoy Duckpool going north and then back inland. We were blessed with beautiful weather all except the last day. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home.

September 2020

First time visit to Bude but won't be the last. Despite coming from Cornwall, I have only ever visited family in Redruth and what a treat to be here. The house was perfect for us, close to amenities, lovely garden for cups of tea and reading the in the circular walk was great. Thank you for sharing your special place it really was a home from home. Will definitely visit again!

September 2020

Our week spent in Bude for the very first time has been amazing. Our dog Jasper has been welcomed wherever we have been, and we have had lots of fun discovering the many walks around the area, from the coastal path to the canal tow path. Jasper also enjoyed running around the lovely sandy beach. Thank you for providing us with wonderful accommodation. The house is warm, relaxing and with every facility we could wish for.

August 2020

Another lovely week at our favourite holiday destination. Apart from storm francis, the weather has been kind. Lovely breakfast at the Weir and a visit to Kernowek Bevvies in Kilkhampton to stock up on some essential supplies. Couldn't have asked for a cleaner and more welcoming home to say in for a week and looking forward to our next visit.

August 2020

We have had such a lovely time in your wonderful house. Thank you for helping us to enjoy an amazing week. Your fully equipped and spacious house near to the town has been just what we needed. Highly recommend, Bude was beautiful and very dog friendly.
