Paddleboarding in Cornwall

Paddleboarding is also known as SUP (stand up paddleboarding), and is one of the fastest growing water sports in the world. A water sport carried out basically on a big surfboard, but you never have to lie down on it because it's stable enough for you to remain standing and paddle around with a very long canoe-style paddle. Paddleboarding is mainly practiced on calmer waters such as rivers and estuaries, but you can also surf on the boards in the right hands.

We've highlighted our favourite SUP spots in Cornwall, so all you need to do is grab a picnic and head out to enjoy the open waters on your board.

Whether you want to bring your own board, hire one or have a SUP lesson, there are plenty of options in Marazion. Paddle around the beautiful Mount's Bay, the calm, safe waters which surround St Michael's Mount.

The Cornish coastline at Polkerris is some of the safest shores to practice paddleboarding. The cove is sheltered, and the beach provides a perfect launch spot. We highly recommend visiting Sam's on the Beach for refreshments after your session too, as it serves the most amazing selection of seafood.
