My day out: Trevathan Farm Shop

Trevathan Farm Shop can be found near Port Isaac, and is well stocked with seasonal vegetables and local goodies which you can pick up and enjoy in one of our self catering cottages in Cornwall.

Taking a family day out, we needed to find somewhere that was flat and accessible for my sister who is in a wheelchair – and Trevathan Farm Shop was the perfect destination. I knew what to expect having visited the farm shop before, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a Halloween theme display for these next couple of weeks.

The farm is well known as somewhere you can go and pick your own strawberries in the summer months. For the Halloween display, they had a pick your own pumpkins instead, and we saw lots of families running up and down the field trying to find the perfect pumpkin to take home and carve.

Once we had a look around the farm shop and all of the animals, we decided to sit down for a spot of lunch. Typical in many Cornish farm shops, the portion size was very generous – but this didn’t effect the quality. It was delicious, and there was a fantastic variety of homemade cakes and desserts on offer too.

This day out is great for all. There is plenty for families to do, from ride on tractors, a football pitch, slide, zip wire, and of course all the farm animals. I’m looking forward to visiting again.
