My day out: Cornwall Football Golf

Cornwall Football Golf is located on the outskirts of St Austell. Having really enjoyed my previous visit, I wanted to take my mum, brothers and sister back for a fun family day out.

I knew what to expect, but others in the group were just imaging a standard golf course but with larger holes for the footballs – but they were pleasantly surprised by the additional facilities, including the hot food on offer and obstacle courses.

Cornwall Football Golf is an active day out, but it’s not overly strenuous. Football is a big hobby of mine and I thoroughly enjoyed my day out, but I think even if you’re aren’t particularly sporty or good at football then it’s still an enjoyable family day out in Cornwall. There’s two different courses, so it caters for people with different abilities.

After our activity, we went for some lunch at the Britannia Inn. Luckily it was a really nice day so we were able to sit in the outside area. The food was good and reasonably priced, and my brother’s burger was a particular highlight. There’s also an adventure park onsite for children to play in.

Cornwall Football Golf caters for almost everyone. We took my disabled sister along with us, and even though she wasn’t able to join in she still enjoyed herself and was able to get around the courses with us to watch. I’m already looking forward to going again, it’s definitely something you can do time and again without getting bored.

Fun fact: Cornwall Football Golf’s claim to fame is that it was the first ever football golf park, and they are holding the world championships from 14-16 June 2019.
