Coasteering in Cornwall

Coasteering

Coasteering is a fairly new name coined to describe an organised version of what many of us did as children; scrambling around on rocks above the sea, falling in regularly and laughing about it. It combines rock climbing (and makes it OK to fall), sea swimming (but not going too far), and jumping off cliffs but in a safe and controlled manner.

The little known sport can be enjoyed with just a wetsuit, helmet and buoyancy aid, and is regarded as a pretty awesome day out even by some of the most hardcore adrenaline junkies. You will need a head for heights and to be comfortable with jumping into the sea and swimming, but for something so simple and accessible to be such fun for all the family is amazing.

Some of the best places to enjoy coasteering are Port Isaac (with Cornish Rock Tours), Newquay (with Newquay Activity Centre), Penzance (with Kernow Coasteering) and on the Lizard Peninsula (with Lizard Adventure).
