Nothing is more festive than crafting your own wreath, creating some unique tree decorations or concocting your own beautiful apothecary-inspired gifts. We’ve rounded up some of the most Christmassy workshops in Cornwall to get you in the mood for that most wonderful time of the year. Family-friendly Christmas crafting at Bedruthan 

Do something different together as a family and express your creativity. Drop into one of a plethora of craft sessions held throughout December at the Bedruthan hotel in Mawgan Porth, north Cornwall. Create polar bear, clay and origami tree decorations, make snowman and reindeer fingerprint cards, paper snowflakes, reindeer crowns and Christmas tree sticks or decorate baubles. Try your hand at painting, collage or textile work with the selection of paints, brushes, easels and canvases on offer and make something to take home with you to treasure forever.

Natural willow wreath making with Seed Home Design

Join nature-inspired fabric maker Seed Home Designs and local florist Bonnie Laycock for an immersive three-hour eco-friendly workshop in Lanner, near Redruth. Use natural willow to create a circular garland, then weave in seasonal leaves, berries and foliage. Bonnie will demonstrate and support your creative process, while Naomi Sisson, artist and Seed Home founder, will be on hand to make sure everyone is topped up with mince pies!

Making your own wreath or table decoration using a luxurious range of eco and sustainable materials at The Hub Portreath, a gorgeous beachside cafe in north Cornwall. Ellie of RockSeaFloral Design will be your guide and all materials are included. This festive workshop includes a glass of mulled wine and a light lunch – walk off your meal on the sandy beach afterwards.

Wreath making and spa, Una St Ives 

Get into the festive spirit with a morning of activities at Una St Ives at Carbis Bay, south-west Cornwall. Create your very own winter bath remedy at Newlyn Art Gallery & Exchange near Penzance, using foraged and local herbs, blending aromatherapy oils and merging natural ingredients from the earth with a side of alchemy and some added intentions. Join medicinal herbalist Harriet Coleman of West Apothecary who will share her extensive knowledge, explore the importance of self-care and the natural beneficial properties of plants and their positive effects.

Sustainable Christmas wreath, the Gurnard’s Head, Zennor

Venture down to the Gurnard’s Head to make an eco-friendly, sustainable Christmas wreath using plastic-free, locally sourced and biodegradable materials with floral designer Alice Matthews of Ruby Alice Design. Everything Alice uses is fresh, locally grown and foraged where possible – she doesn’t use floral foam, which is a single-use plastic and chemically harmful to the environment. There’ll also be some good food in the form of a two-course supper and mulled wine.
