The end of November sees around 10,000 visitors heading to Fowey for its annual Christmas Market. With traders offering handmade gifts and local produce, and the town’s boutique shops showcasing their finest displays, there’s plenty of time for shopping before Santa arrives! The occasion also marks the switch on of the Christmas lights in Fowey, and there’s lots of music throughout the weekend from town bands and carol singers.

In early December, some of the UK’s most prestigious chefs take to the stage at Padstow Christmas Festival. Providing cookery demonstrations and taking part in food forums, it’s a great chance to interact with some of your favourite local and national chefs all under one roof.

The festival also contains a Christmas market full of food & drink producers and arts & crafts stalls. Finally, the event wouldn’t be complete with Santa’s grotto and the spectacular fireworks display.

Located in Penzance, this six day art and community festival is based on the Cornish traditions of the past, with lantern and mask making workshops, live bands, carol services, arts and crafts fairs and late night shopping throughout the week.

The festival concludes with the main event on 21st December, Montol Eve, where the people of Penzance take part in many of the Cornish traditional customs of Midwinter and Christmas including Guise dancing. Many wear traditional masks, dress in disguise and wear mock formal costume. During the proceedings you can listen to traditional music, watch fire throwing and join in the carols.
