Cornish farm shops
Pasties and cider are the stereotypical fare which first springs to mind when people think of food and drink in Cornwall. However this rural region has a wide variety of delicious home-grown produce to choose from.
Food shopping is a lot more pleasurable when we can see, feel and taste how fresh it is. Produce available in farm shops is fresh, healthy and seasonal – and often tastes a lot better than food bought from the supermarket.
Padstow Farm Shop
This family run business just outside Padstow offers a wide range of local and seasonal produce. There are many delicious tempting treats to choose from including homemade pasta, meatballs and our favourite – sweet chilli sausages which go beautifully with a fried breakfast in the morning.
The meat is locally reared and they stock a wide variety of Cornish beer and wine. They supply some very well known restaurants in the local area including the Rick Stein restaurants and Jamie Oliver’s ‘Fifteen’, so you know you won’t be disappointed.
This award-winning farm shop is set on 850 acres of traditional, mixed, non-intensive, family run farmland, and is located in Heligan, St Ewe near St Austell.
The beef and lamb available to buy in the shop are born and reared on the farm, whilst other meats and fish are sourced from local Cornish producers. The majority of vegetables are farm grown, cut daily and delivered to the shop. They stock a wide range of other products from cheese, bread, cakes, local drinks and much, much more.
Trevilley Farm Shop
Located on the outskirts of Newquay in north Cornwall, this family-run farm produces its own beef, lamb, vegetables, turkey and geese – and they also have their own quails for the most delicious quail eggs.
They make their own jams, marmalades, chutneys and pickles, as well as freshly baked goods and stock a wide variety of local produce from all over Cornwall.
