You can’t visit Cornwall and not have a pasty. Lavenders does two plant-based ones. The vegan wholemeal is one for purists who want a twist on the original. There’s the classic Cornish vegetable mixture of potato, onion and swede, mixed with a less classic but beautiful combo of mixed peppers, garlic and mixed herbs: think pasty meets pizza! If you fancy going rogue, try the cauliflower curry option, wrapped in gorgeous yellow turmeric shortcrust pastry.

With all the trendy art students in Falmouth, it’s no surprise there is a trendy falafel eaterie to match. But forget dry, hard falafels of yore – Fal Falafel makes its ones fresh every day, ensuring a slightly crunchy but moist texture. Munch them in a warm pitta or salad box, with lashings of delicious hummus, sauces, pickles, herbs and chillies.

It’s hard to find a vegan cream tea in Cornwall, but Cafe Cloud comes up trumps. The scones are, of course, home made and come with delicious coconut clotted cream, served on mismatched vintage plates.
