My day out: Idless Woods

Idless Woods is located on the outskirts of Truro, and I decided to visit on recommendation from my sister who had taken her dog for a walk there previously.

We parked up and took a pleasurable walk through the woods, it was nice to walk somewhere new which provided a bit of variety compared to the beach or moorland walks that I usually do.

I would suggest that this day out would be suited to people who enjoy the fresh air, both couples and families, with some interesting wooden dens to find along the way. This walk is also perfect for taking the dog for a walk and letting them off the lead.

Unfortunately the Woodman’s Cabin cafe was closed on my visit, but I have heard great things and would like to return to try its refreshments.

Top tips for visiting Idless Woods:

  • I would not recommend this walk for anyone with mobility issues, as the tracks are uneven and not always easy to walk on.
  • Take care driving on the road down to the woods, as it can be tricky with only one-way access to the woods.
  • There are numerous tracks to walk on here which vary in length, so you can spend as much or as little time here as you like.
