The Boring (but important!) stuff...
How and what to enter
- There is no entry fee.
- You must be the author ('You', 'Your') of your submission.
- To enter the Competition, you must submit a story of between 500 & 750 words using the 'Submit your entry' button on this page or post to 'What I love about Cornwall', The Offices, Trewardale, Blisland, Bodmin, Cornwall, PL30 4HS. If you are posting, please include contact details. If we cannot contact you, you cannot win the competition.
- Your piece should be in response to the statement 'What I love about Cornwall' or it can be themed around your positive experience on holiday in Cornwall.
- Stories must be previously unpublished.
- Only three entries permitted per person.
- The deadline for entry is 1 August 2012.

- Well-constructed aspirational, quality submissions may be selected for publication in 'Cornwall Living' magazine.
Picking the winner
- Staff at Cornish Traditional Cottages will choose one winning entry from all the Competition entries.
- When choosing the winner, Cornish Traditional Cottages will be looking for the most original, aspirational and well-crafted piece of writing.
- The decision of who the winner is will be made on or before Friday 31 August 2012. The winner of the competition will be notified on or before 5 September 2012. Cornish Traditional Cottages' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The winner will be announced on our Facebook page.
The Prize
- One winner will have their entry published in our 2013 brochure to be printed during September 2012.
- By entering this competition, all contestants hereby consent (except where prohibited) to the use by CTC of the contestant's name, age, photograph, hometown address, and entry without any further compensation.
- CTC reserves the right to modify this boring but important stuff at any time, at its discretion, and without notice.
- This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. By entering this contest you release Facebook from any related claims. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding this competition must be directed to CTC and not Facebook.
- The prize cannot be exchanged or transferred by You and cannot be redeemed by You for cash or any other prize. You must pay all other costs associated with the prize and not specifically included in the prize.
Other Terms and Conditions
- Any entry could be selected during the course of the competition for publication on our Facebook page, blog or other promotional material. This does not mean that You have won the competition.
- The 'What I love about Cornwall' writing competition (the "Competition") is open to anyone aged 18 and over.
- Employees or associates of Cornish Traditional Cottages or their family members, or anyone else connected with the Competition cannot win the competition, but may submit an entry.
- You are responsible for the cost (if any) of sending your Competition entry to us.
- You own the copyright to your Competition entry as its author.
- By submitting an entry to the Competition, you give Cornish Traditional Cottages (CTC):
- Permission for your entry to be published in any promotional material and grant CTC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to republish your Competition entry (edited if required) in electronic format and hard copy for promotional purposes free of charge, and;
- The right to use your name and town or city of residence for the sole purpose of identifying You as the author of your entry and/or as a winner of the Competition.
- Cornish Traditional Cottages (CTC) assumes no responsibility for possible fraud committed by any contestant. CTC reserves the right to remove or disqualify any entry at any time at its discretion.
- Your entry must be your own work, must not be copied, must not contain any third-party materials and/or content that You do not have permission to use and must not otherwise be obscene, defamatory or in breach of any applicable legislation or regulations. If CTC have reason to believe your entry is not your own work or otherwise breaches this paragraph, then it may not be considered.
Some other rules
- Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
- We take no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason. Proof of delivery of the entry is not proof of receipt.
- The winner may be required for promotional activity.
- The Promoter of the Competition is Cornish Traditional Cottages whose address is The Offices, Trewardale, Blisland, Bodmin, Cornwall, PL30 4HS. Any complaints regarding the Competition should be sent to this address.
- CTC accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by You as a result of entering the Competition or accepting any prize. CTC further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to You or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the Competition.
- CTC reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, suspend this Competition with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of CTC in all matters under its control is final and binding.
- CTC shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
- The Competition will be governed by English law.
