A short path and a series of shallow steps lead to the private entrance at the rear. A half glazed door opens directly into a light and airy kitchen with New England style units and a built-in breakfast bar with solid beech worktop and two high stools. Kitchen appliances include dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric hob and oven, microwave and washing machine.
Leading off the kitchen to one side is an inner hallway giving access to a shower room W.C. with vanity basin and a delightful kingsize double bedroom positioned so that you can enjoy the superb sea and coastal views. On the opposite side of the kitchen is an attractive twin bedded room with vanity basin.
The long living room at the front of the property has the most magnificent sea views from three double glazed picture windows and comprises of comfortable lounge seating, television, dining area and an easy chair in one corner with a birds eye view!
A half glazed door opens in one corner of the lounge to a private glass balustrade balcony with glorious views of the sea and coastline and a great place to enjoy the spectacular sunsets - young children must be supervised. A communal grassy garden surrounded by a low stone wall is on the seaward side of the house with a footpath leading from here down to the sandy beach and the coast path.
This property is heated by a combination of night storage units and electric panel heaters.
If you are holidaying with friends and need EXTRA SPACE then have a look at dog friendly SEAHORSES - next door.
Dolphins Leap has a private glass balustrade balcony with glorious views of the sea and coastline and a great place to enjoy the spectacular sunsets - young children must be supervised. A communal grassy garden surrounded by a low stone wall is on the seaward side of the house with a footpath leading from here down to the sandy beach and the coast path. Garden furniture provided.
Wide amber sands, rolling breakers and tranquil seclusion – a holiday in Mawgan Porth is the perfect place to get away from it all. Possibly one of the north coast of Cornwall’s best-hidden secrets, this wide arc of sand is a true wonder. It has the same great surf as the rest of this stunning coastline but is just far enough away from the bigger resorts, such as Newquay and Padstow, to be free of crowds – ideal for those seeking peace and quiet.
The area once known as Porthglyvyan – meaning ‘the cove of the little wooded valley river’ – still attracts tourists but has not lost its charm. Excavations in the 1950s found a burial ground dating back to the 10th Century, but the minimal development in the area means that the stunning views out to sea are probably similar to those seen by the people who lived around there a thousand years ago.
Sheltered by high cliffs on each side, west-facing, award-winning Mawgan Porth beach is loved by families for its rockpools, cave and stream, and space for traditional games and kite-flying. There’s also disabled access and a year-round dog-friendly policy. It’s generally safe to swim here but there’s a seasonal lifeguard for reassurance.
Nearby, you can enjoy the beautiful beaches of Carnewas, Porthcothan, Treyarnon Bay, Constantine Bay, Mother Ivey’s Bay and Harlyn Bay – among some of the most picturesque stretches of coastline that Cornwall has to offer. Neighbouring Watergate Bay and its famous surfing beach offers a choice of watersports. Up the valley road leading away from the beach is sleepy Mawgan, a tree-dappled, village-green idyll with shops and a pub.
Coastal tracks run the length of Cornwall, and you can amble north all the way to Padstow, an old Cornish fishing town and home to Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth restaurants, taking in the beautiful Bedruthan Steps (stop for a cream tea in the clifftop café at Carnewas) and wild Trevose Head, with its breathtaking views and lighthouse, a popular spot for nesting birds.
Despite Cornwall’s ever-growing popularity, your tranquil holiday in Mawgan Porth will be ideal for watching and walking the wild and unspoilt coastline, breathing in clean sea air and relaxing.

The Merrymoor Inn

For three generations of our family we have been creating dishes from the land & sea of Cornish Shores.
Our team of chefs led by a head chef John Fish pride themselves on using locally sourced fresh foods. Be it from the boats at Newlyn Harbour, cuts from our local butcher or fresh seasonal produce.
Forget any pretence, good food means good ingredients made into a dish worth eating.
By the beach, great views, good food & drinks and Cornish hospitality
it's that simple.
Merrymoor never disappoints- breakfasts are amassing staff friendly and accommodating- fabulous views from the terrace too
September 2023
We had a meal at the Merrymoor inn and the food is delicious. On booking they were really helpful in finding us a time to come even though extremely busy. Our waitress on the night was very professional and service was very smooth, we weren’t waiting ages for our food . Definitely returning next year but will book ahead.

Traditional pub serving traditional menus and cask ales.
Travellers Rest, Trevarrian, Newquay, Cornwall (T:01637 861633)
Regrettably the pub is under new management and food was disappointing- as was the ‘local’s’ discount on drinks which was in effect a holiday makers ‘tax’ and hiked the price of our round (pint of cider and a white wine) from £10.35 to £11,70!! Bad business planning given that the establishment relies heavily on non local trade- prices considerably highly that other venues

Spotlessly clean
May 2022
It's a wonderful property, we love it and have enjoyed every visit. One annoying detail is the intrusive overnight safety lights on one of the properties lower down - it really spoils the dark skies quality of the environment

A lovely holiday home with plenty of comfortable seating on which to enjoy the amazing views and sunsets. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and spacious. Lots of thoughtful extras, like a game's cupboard, maps and books and cushions and sun umbrella for the outside patio.
August 2019
The apartment is very well equipped with everything you will need it's like home from home, I didn't need to pack half of what I did as I didn't realise there would be washing up/washing powder/ dishwasher tabs/tin foil etc available. Location great for exploring the surrounding area, can drive to various beaches with no problems at all.
