With lovely views down over the fields to the sea and just one mile inland from the picturesque coastal village of Downderry, this sensitively converted early 19th century detached stone barn stands in a peaceful rural setting to one side of the owners farmhouse. Offering spacious family accommodation the property is just a 5 minute drive to the sand and shingle beach at Downderry with rock pools at low tide.
A short level path leads to the front door, set beneath an open porch roof, which opens to a small lobby and half a dozen steps lead straight up to an open-plan living room with beams rising to the apex of the roof and a light and airy decor. There is a comfortable seating area with two futon sofa beds for alternative sleeping arrangements; a dining suite is arranged in the middle of the room and a well equipped, modern fitted kitchen.
French Windows from the lounge open to a raised decking area with timber railings, patio furniture and tranquil views over the surrounding countryside to the coast beyond. In one corner of the living room, an inner hallway gives access to two pleasantly furnished bedrooms; a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room W.C. with hand basin and a twin bedded room. A bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath completes the accommodation.
The barn is fronted by a large sheltered courtyard ideal for children’s outdoor games and there is a hardcore parking area for 2 cars. Visitors are welcome to pick their own vegetables from the owner’s one acre of vegetable garden nearby and may also mindfully explore the surrounding fields. The owner also offers a taxi service to and from the local villages and bed and breakfast accommodation is available in the adjacent farmhouse.
All the village amenities are just a 5minute drive including a local shop/post office, cafe, restaurant and pub with carvery. For walkers, the coastal footpath leads to Looe westwards and east to Whitsand Bay, and there are wooded walks inland through the Seaton Valley Countryside Park. Looe, 8 miles, offers pleasure boat and fishing trips, there is diving at the HMS Scylla artificial reef and there are several golf courses and gardens in the immediate area to explore. Plymouth is half an hour by car and The Eden Project is a 40 minute drive.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:
How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’
A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £18 pppw (per pet per week).
Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.
Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 821 666 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.
