Just a 5 minute drive from the pretty coastal village of Marazion and the splendour of St Michaels Mount, this beautifully presented, self contained apartment is the lower two floors of a grade II listed former engine house steeped in Cornish heritage and surrounded by peaceful unspoilt countryside

Sympathetically converted, this detached property is situated in a picturesque rural position yet is only 1.5 miles from the glorious sandy beaches of Mounts Bay and is set in the owner’s mature lawned garden with a variety of flowering shrubs and trees which visitors are encouraged to make use of. 

Approached by a sweeping gravel driveway where there is space to park two cars, a dozen wooden railed steps lead up to a delightful elevated sun deck enjoying lovely views of rolling hills and the front door which opens to an attractive sitting room, furnished and decorated in a contemporary style

The charming and cosy sitting room has comfortable leather seating arranged before the decorative fireplace housing an electric coal-effect fire and leading off to one side are two pleasant bedrooms with a kingsize double and single bed respectively, both with unique little windows overlooking the grounds.  A fully tiled shower room W.C. with hand basin and heated towel rail completes the first floor accommodation. 

In one corner of the lounge, a wrought iron spiral staircase descends to the ground floor and a modern kitchen/breakfast room with a quarry tiled floor, oak fitted units and dual aspect windows with views of the extensive landscaped garden.  The kitchen and shower room benefit from electric underfloor heating

Marazion has a selection of restaurants, pubs, local shops and galleries all within a 5 minute drive and a cobbled causeway once walked by pilgrim’s leads to St Michaels Mount at low tide.  The beautiful sandy beaches of Marazion, one and a half miles away, are popular with families and for water sports while the RSPB reserve nearby is a favourite with birdwatchers. 

The harbour town of Penzance, 4 miles, has extensive shops, a railway station and a regular helicopter and ferry service to the Isles of Scilly.  In the opposite direction is the village of Perranuthnoe, 2 miles, which has a 12th century inn, sandy beach and a glorious section of the coastal path to Cudden Point and beyond to Prussia Cove.

When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £18 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 821 666 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests who have booked a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.
How to book

  1. Select the check box next to the week(s) you wish to book. Multiple weeks can only be booked consecutively. Non consecutive weeks must be booked separately.
  2. A summary of your booking will appear. To proceed with the booking select the 'Continue booking' button in the summary box. Deselect the weeks to remove the summary box.
  3. Weeks marked as 'Reserve' (highlighted in blue) cannot be booked at this point in time because availability and prices have not yet been agreed with the owner. You can reserve these weeks in your name until availability and pricing has been agreed. It is important to note that a 'Reserved' period can only be confirmed in your name if the owner wishes to make the Reserved period available for booking.
  4. 'Reserved' weeks (as opposed to 'Reserve' weeks) can only be booked by a customer who has 'Reserved' the highlighted period.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Definitions

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

Some properties offer short breaks out of the high season periods. Short breaks cannot currently be booked online. Please phone us on 01208 821 666 to enquire about a short break.

Prices for short breaks are as follows:
  • Up to 3 nights: 62% of the weekly price
  • 4 nights: 71.5% of the weekly price
  • 5 nights: 91% of the weekly price
  • 6 nights: 100% of the weekly price
Reservations
