Lessthan a 10 minute drive from the beautiful sandy bays and surfing beaches ofBude and Widemouth Bay, this charming 18th century mid-terrace cob cottagestands to one side of the country lane on the outskirts of the peaceful villageof Marhamchurch. The cottage is perfectfor families to enjoy a traditional beach holiday nearby and is also anexcellent base for walkers and bird watchers, being within easy reach of theSouth West Coastal Path, Bude Marshes Nature Reserve and picturesque Bude Canalless than 3 miles away. Approachedthrough a walled and gated patio garden, the front door set beneath an openporch roof leads into a central hallway with the original slate flagstones andthe warm and cosy accommodation which retains much of its character withslightly sloping walls and floors. Onone side is a beamed sitting room with comfortable lounge seating arrangedbefore the inglenook fireplace, and on the other side is a pine fitted kitchen/diningroom with a farmhouse table and the original clome oven in the hearth. Both rooms overlook the south facing frontpatio. A carpeted staircase leads upfrom the hall to the first floor landing and two pleasant bedrooms with akingsize and twin beds respectively, each with its own hand basin and lovelyrural views, and an adjacent cot/play room. Two steps continue up from the landing to the rear of the cottage wherethere are a shower room with hand basin, a separate W.C., and a further doublebedroom with hand basin and views of the surrounding countryside and the ownersworking farm. The additional bed spaces offera variation for the numbers accommodated. At the front of the cottage is an enclosed slate paved patio thatprovides a real sun trap and there is private off road parking for up to 3 carsin a layby opposite. The owner lives ina self contained annexe to the rear of the original cottage. There is a pretty church and traditionalcountry inn serving good food 5 minutes walk away and Bude, 2.5 miles by road,has a wide selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, leisure centre and bowlingalley. It is possible to walk or cycle alongthe scenic canal footpath passing through farmland to Bude, and there are numerousopportunities for water sports, coarse fishing, golf and horse riding availablelocally. When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.
Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £18 pppw (per pet per week).
Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.
Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 821 666 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests who have booked a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.

- A summary of your booking will appear. To proceed with the booking select the 'Continue booking' button in the summary box. Deselect the weeks to remove the summary box.
- Weeks marked as 'Reserve' (highlighted in blue) cannot be booked at this point in time because availability and prices have not yet been agreed with the owner. You can reserve these weeks in your name until availability and pricing has been agreed. It is important to note that a 'Reserved' period can only be confirmed in your name if the owner wishes to make the Reserved period available for booking.
- 'Reserved' weeks (as opposed to 'Reserve' weeks) can only be booked by a customer who has 'Reserved' the highlighted period.
Pricing information
All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.
