Woodsaws Farm

Just 6 miles from the picturesque fishing villages at Looe and Polperro on the South Coast, these two stone built spacious and comfortable cottages benefiting from double glazing and central heating, form part of a converted 19th century former mill

On a working family farm set to one side of the original farmhouse with 180 acres of beautiful rural countryside including a 10-acre woodland noted for its birds and wildlife that links with footpaths leading down to the West Looe Valley

Each cottage has their own gated patio garden in addition to a separate shared lawn with barbecue area and there is ample parking space for all visitors on-site.  Please note pets and young children will require supervision on this working farm where agricultural/commercial vehicles operate. 

Lanreath, 1/2 a mile, has a 15th century church and small village store/P.O. and the village of Pelynt 1.5 miles is home to the 400 year old Jubilee Inn and a few local shops.  Fowey via the Bodinnick car ferry, Polruan and Lerryn are all within a 15 minute drive and both the Eden Project and the NT Lanhydrock House can be reached in half an hour by car.

Entered from a walled and gated garden with a level lawn, three steps and a gravel path leads up to the front door which opens to a spacious entrance hall with a high beamed ceiling and underfloor heating. 

The ground floor accommodation consists of a well equipped farmhouse style fitted kitchen/breakfast room, an adjacent utility room with laundry facilities, and a cloakroom W.C. with hand basin. 

There is also a very generous sized living room with beamed ceiling, a Cornish stone fireplace, comfortable seating overlooking the lawned front garden and an additional dining area

From the hallway carpeted stairs lead up to a sunny first floor landing and three pleasant bedrooms, all with views of the surrounding farmland; there is a dual aspect master bedroom with a 5ft double and en-suite shower room W.C. and hand basin, a twin bedded room, and the third bedroom with the option of a 6ft double or 3ft zip linked twin beds

A bathroom W.C. with hand basin, bath and shower cubicle completes the accommodation.

When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £20 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 821 666 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests returning for a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.
How to book

  1. Select the check box next to the week(s) you wish to book. Multiple weeks can only be booked consecutively. Non consecutive weeks must be booked separately.
  2. A summary of your booking will appear. To proceed with the booking select the 'Continue booking' button in the summary box. Deselect the weeks to remove the summary box.
  3. Weeks marked as 'Reserve' (highlighted in blue) cannot be booked at this point in time because availability and prices have not yet been agreed with the owner. You can reserve these weeks in your name until availability and pricing has been agreed. It is important to note that a 'Reserved' period can only be confirmed in your name if the owner wishes to make the Reserved period available for booking.
  4. 'Reserved' weeks (as opposed to 'Reserve' weeks) can only be booked by a customer who has 'Reserved' the highlighted period.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

There are few better places to take a short break than in Cornwall. They can frequently be arranged, mainly out of season though, for periods to suit guest's particular requirements, but there is always a minimum rental, for practical reasons.

Cornwall in the early Spring is usually blessed with fine warm weather. It is this climate which brings out the wild flowers and spectacular gardens which make this time of year such an ideal one for a holiday. During July and August and other busy times of the year short break holidays are normally only available at short notice, but please enquire and we will do our best to accommodate you.

If short breaks are available, the cost of a short break is calculated as follows:
3 nights: 62% of weekly rental price
4 nights: 71.5% of weekly rental price
5 nights: 91% of weekly rental price
6 nights: 100% of weekly rental price

Reservations

You can reserve these weeks in your name on a first come first served basis until availability and pricing has been agreed.
