Quietly nestled away just 50 yards from the small sandy cove in Portmellon and only half a mile south of the picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey, this double glazed, two storey apartment is one of five sympathetically and tastefully converted from a detached Georgian House.
Believed to have been built originally for the troops during the Napoleonic war and later being used by the local fisherman and smugglers, the property is now comfortably furnished in a cottage style décor.
A short unmade lane leads from the coast road to a private tarmac parking area with reserved spaces for two cars, and one step leads up to a small patio area with picnic table which catches the afternoon and evening sun.
From here, the front door opens to a small entrance hallway with coat pegs and to one side an open doorway leads into a bright and sunny, fully fitted kitchen with shaker style units. Beyond the kitchen, a light and airy living room has a dining suite and comfortable lounge seating facing an electric living flame fire; both rooms have window seats overlooking the front patio.
Carpeted stairs lead up from the hallway to the first floor landing, a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath and two cheerful bedrooms with a standard double and 4ft double bed respectively.
The seasonal 17th century Rising Sun Inn is close by and is just a moment’s walk from the coastal footpath and the small sand and shingle beach with a slipway available for launching boats. Mevagissey, half a mile, has a selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants and there are boat trips and a summer ferry service to Fowey departing from the working fishing harbour.
There are lovely scenic walks along the coast around Chapel Point to Gorran Haven, and for garden lovers, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Caerhays, Trewithen and The Eden Project are all within easy reach. The nearest large town is St Austell, a 15 minute drive which has a wide selection of amenities and the cathedral city of Truro is about 15 miles away.

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.
Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 821 666 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.
