Property Details

Three miles from the sandy beaches on the South Coast, this newly converted, detached stone barn offers spacious inverted accommodation with peaceful views across the surrounding fields and wooded valley. Named after a pair of resident barn owls that choose to nest here which can be viewed on a live video link from the property on the owners 280 acre working livestock farm, it is an ideal base for exploring the unspoilt South East corner of Cornwall.

Approached by a long private drive, the barn is fronted by a gated tarmac parking area with space for several cars and from here, one step leads up to the stable door on the first floor opening to an entrance hallway with a slate tiled floor.

On one side of the hall is a cloakroom W.C. with hand basin, and on the opposite side is a utility room with storage space for beach gear. A well equipped kitchen has farmhouse style fitted units including a double oven, there is an adjacent dining area and an archway leads through to a delightful sitting room with a beamed ceiling open to the apex of the roof and tranquil country views from French Windows that open inwards with iron railings.

Leading off to one side, a kingsize bedroom has patio doors opening to a small timber railed balcony with quiet views of the countryside and also an en-suite shower room W.C. with hand basin.

In one corner of the lounge, two steps lead up to a little snug area with a huge arched window, and from here, stairs lead down to a ground floor hallway where there are three bedrooms and a bathroom W.C. with hand basin, bath and shower cubicle. There is a double bedroom with a kingsize bed, one with twin 3ft beds, and the third bedroom, reached by two steps, has two 3ft single beds and a half glazed door opening to a courtyard.

The barn has its own large grassy garden extending around two sides of the property with a sheltered patio area and post and rail fencing bordering on to farmland which visitors are welcome to mindfully explore.

The nearest pub is at Hessenford, 1.5 miles away, and there are small shops at both Seaton and Downderry, approximately 3 miles, where there are sandy beaches with rock pools. Antony House and Mount Edgcumbe Country Park are within easy reach as are golf courses, riding stables and boat trips that depart from the quay in Looe 6 miles away. Bake fishing lakes are just a few minutes drive away offering coarse and fly fishing and there are stunning coastal walks along Whitsand Bay and around Rame Head. Plymouth is 14 miles
