With far reaching views over St Ives Bay and just two miles from the beach at Gwithian.  Cowslip, Skylark and Meadowside are three thoughtfully renovated, attractive and comfortable properties on a 100-acre working farm once part of the Basset family estate. Set at the end of a long farm drive and within easy reach of all the golden sands and surfing beaches in the vicinity, this is a very convenient base from which to explore mid and west Cornwall, well placed for family holidays. The area abounds with footpaths and bridleways through woodland, nature reserves, open countryside and Tehidy Country Park, and both golf, riding and a surf school are available locally. The South West Coastal Path offers glorious scenery, in particular the dramatic viewpoint at Hells Mouth half a mile away and Godrevy Point, 2 miles, overlooking the lighthouse on Godrevy Island. There are pubs offering food in the villages of Gwithian and Portreath, 2 miles respectively, and a good selection of shops and a supermarket in the town of Hayle about 3 miles away. St Ives is about a 20 minute drive with its picturesque harbour, narrow cobbled streets and home to the Tate Gallery. The old farmyard offers ample car parking, there is undercover storage for bicycles and beachgear, and both stabling and grazing for horses are available.

With views across unspoilt farmland towards St Ives Bay, this double glazed, single storey barn conversion is the end one of three and entered from the parking area via a wide front door which leads directly into a light and spacious open-plan living room with a quarry tiled floor. The newly fitted modern kitchen / dining area is well equipped with views across the neighbouring fields towards the cliffs at Hells Mouth in the distance. The rest of the room comprises of a leather lounge suite next to a half glazed door that opens to a private patio with views over lovely countryside towards the sea at Carbis Bay. In one corner, a short hallway leads to a pine furnished twin bedded room, a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room W.C. with hand basin, and at the far end of the hall a family bathroom W.C. with bath and hand basin. There is a shared lawn and barbecue area, which has stock proof fencing separating it from the adjacent fields. The accommodation is completely on one level making it suitable for a family with an elderly relative. Please note: Towels available at £3 per person, per week payable on arrival.

When a property shows 'sleeps' in the format X-Y, X equals the maximum number of adults that can comfortably be accommodated and Y indicates the maximum number of adults + children that can be comfortably accommodated in the property.

Our rating method, the popular "smiles" system is generated entirely by the feedback we receive from our visitors. The number of smiles is arrived at by taking the average grading given to the question:

How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’

A property will achieve a rating of 5 Smiles down to 1 Smile, although it is our policy not to carry any properties with ratings lower than 3 Smiles. The customer chooses from the following ratings:
  1. Excellent
  2. Good
  3. Satisfactory
  4. Below standard
  5. Poor
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are graded "New".
Pets

There is an extra charge for pets, most commonly at £18 pppw (per pet per week).

Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.

Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 821 666 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.

Loyalty Discount

A 5% loyalty discount is available at some properties for guests who have booked a second or further holiday within 2 years through Cornish Traditional Cottages. If you are eligible for the Loyalty Discount your final balance payment will be reduced accordingly after your booking has been submitted. The Loyalty Discount cannot be claimed with any other discount.
How to book

  1. Select the check box next to the week(s) you wish to book. Multiple weeks can only be booked consecutively. Non consecutive weeks must be booked separately.
  2. A summary of your booking will appear. To proceed with the booking select the 'Continue booking' button in the summary box. Deselect the weeks to remove the summary box.
  3. Weeks marked as 'Reserve' (highlighted in blue) cannot be booked at this point in time because availability and prices have not yet been agreed with the owner. You can reserve these weeks in your name until availability and pricing has been agreed. It is important to note that a 'Reserved' period can only be confirmed in your name if the owner wishes to make the Reserved period available for booking.
  4. 'Reserved' weeks (as opposed to 'Reserve' weeks) can only be booked by a customer who has 'Reserved' the highlighted period.

Pricing information

All prices are per week per property. Many properties promote an all inclusive price although some charge for extras such as bed linen, towels, heating and/or electricity. The Property description will detail any extra charges.

Definitions

Booked: A customer has committed to a holiday period by paying a deposit or the full amount for a rental period.

Reserved: When a property is not yet available to be booked, a customer can 'Reserve' the property in their name on a first come first served basis. When Cornish Traditional Cottages and the owner have agreed availability and pricing for your selected period we will contact you to let you know if you can then book the property in your name. A Reservation does not guarantee a booking because the owner has first right of refusal on all availability.
Short breaks

Some properties offer short breaks out of the high season periods. Short breaks cannot currently be booked online. Please phone us on 01208 821 666 to enquire about a short break.

Prices for short breaks are as follows:
  • Up to 3 nights: 62% of the weekly price
  • 4 nights: 71.5% of the weekly price
  • 5 nights: 91% of the weekly price
  • 6 nights: 100% of the weekly price
Reservations
