Warleggan | Nr Bodmin Moor | Sleeps 10 in 2 cottages
With a spectacular landscape of moorland and wooded valleys, Dreamcatcher, and Moondance are set in an unspoilt and romantic location, high up on Carburrow Tor, on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor with an abundance of native wildlife and littered with Bronze and Iron Age remains. The owners moved to this beautiful 35-acre organic small holding from the West Highlands of Scotland where they had farmed oysters and mussels for many years. Newly renovated, these three cottages are named after the animals that reside here. The laundry and games room – Pugwash House – is named in honour of Pugwash the Kune Kune pig who nearly died as a piglet but was bottle fed and nursed back to health by the family. There is a shared outhouse with undercover drying lines and storage space for beachgear and bicycles, and communal grassed areas with barbecues available. A car park has been set aside from the group where there is space for at least two cars per property and there is direct access onto the moors, ideal for exercising dogs and bird watching. The villages of St Neot and Blisland are within a 15 minute drive respectively and have a traditional pub and small post office store and for a wider selection of amenities the town of Bodmin is 7 miles. The beaches on both the north and south coasts are each a 30 minute drive away and Colliford Lake Park with an adventure playground, nature trails and lakeside walks is approximately 4 miles. DREAMCATCHER is the mother of Moondance, a grey Highland pony with a flowing mane like something from Arthurian legend. A former granite milking parlour and hay store, the property is entered from the side with a flight of external wooden steps that leads to an elevated sun deck extending around two sides with panoramic views of the countryside.
From here, the front door opens to the first floor inverted accommodation and a comfortable open plan living room with beams rising up to the apex of the roof. A bright and sunny sitting room has lounge and dining furniture next to a wood burning stove and patio doors that open to the railed decking, and on the opposite side of the central staircase there is a fitted kitchen and a couple of steps up to a cloakroom W.C. with hand basin.
Downstairs there are two bedrooms with a double and twin beds respectively, each with French Windows opening to a little seating area. Between the two and with access from both bedrooms is a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath.
VISITOR COMMENT: We have had a wonderful holiday, in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The cottage is beautiful and has fantastic views. We were made to feel so welcome as soon as we arrived and the ginger biscuits went down extremely well - they were lovely! We will definitely be back...thank you again for everything. How would you rate the cottage's fittings, furnishings and equipment?’
A property will achieve 3, 2 or 1 smiles depending on the percentage of ‘goods’ it receives in answer to the question above. Below are the comparisons:
3 smiles (90% 'good' ratings)
2 smiles (75% 'good' ratings)
1 smile (50% 'good' ratings)
There are a number of properties that have been recently added to our portfolio and these are headed "New".
Assistance dogs are of course welcome in all our cottages free of charge, however owners of them should be aware that a considerable number of people are allergic to dogs and in some cases can have a severe reaction. Owners are therefore encouraged, where at all possible, to choose a property which normally allows pets.
Some properties accept pets other than dogs, but in all cases we are required to confirm consent from the cottage owner. Please contact the office on 01208 821 666 if you would like to take a pet other than a dog with you to one of our cottages.
